Base hit Wong and he’s a broken record in the hit department here tonight much to the delight of the Cardinal faithful…..3-3.
Wong’s bat just keeps getting better and better to go along with gold glove defense. I think he has solidified himself.
The front office gets a lot of grief and deservedly so most of the time but I have to say Wieters was a great signing. He has to be the best backup catcher in the league.
I assume Knizer gets the backup job next year but Wieters has been great.
Yeah he(Wong) did the same thing last year around this time, Scotty. It appears we have a few players that don’t get cooking until around mid July. Wonder if our conditioning team can do something to kick-start those hog streaks a little earlier in the season….and maintain them until November.
“Hot” not “hog”…..as in hot dog and hog for bacon. Looks like I’ve got food firmly on my mind thanks to all of you guys sharing your dinner entrees every game thread.
Flaherty has been outstanding tonight. Really want to see him get a “W”. Also good to see the offense string together some hits!
Nice rebound tonight. What a difference 24 hours can do for how you feel about things. I wasn’t feeling good about facing Lester tonight either. Clutch hits do wonders. Also, Flaherty evidently brought his big boy fastball with him tonight.
That is what Carpenter needs to focus on doing. Going other way, great piece of hitting right there.
Nice inning by Tyler Webb. I watched most of his games at South Carolina…he pitched on the 2010 & 2011 National Championship Teams.
I just was able to tune in. Great game by the Birds so far! Glad to see Flaherty with another good outing, and the offense giving him some support to boot.
Chatwood walks the bases juiced for Ravelo. Wouldn’t it be a great time for a granny? Danny Mac seems to agree. Rangel was ready and swinging! But he misses it. He works a full count…is he gonna get a grooved pitch here? Not necessarily…he grounds into a double play, but the run scores.
well my son told me Flaherty was more aggressive tonight. maybe a harbinger of things to come. great all around game tonight.
One out to go…Bote is it for the Scrubs. Mayers appears to be overthrowing it. Note pops up to Fowler and it’s a 1 hit shutout of the Cubs! 1st place again!!
The Cards pitching has been very good this series. A little more offense last night and the Redbirds would have had a sweep. Good to take two of three!
Two tough opponents on the road trip out west.
