Hendricks should not be so difficult to hit if you remember don’t swing at balls out of the strike zone and take the ball the other way. Goldschmidt’s first double to right was how to approach him.
We didn’t need an additional position player but we did need a quality starting pitcher preferably a lefty and the FO failed to acquire one. I find it hard to believe that Mike Minor would have required Dylan Carlson in return.
If the Cardinals want extra bullpen help why don’t they add Fernandez to the 40 man roster and call him up?
Ray is a quality LH pitcher that the Cardinals don’t have so yeas he is a difference maker. The question is Montero the right amount of trade option?
We don’t need a # 1 or 2 necessarily…we just need a quality starter to go with Mikolas, Hudson & Flaherty.
This year Minor is not a middling pitcher. He is a quality LH pitcher which the Cardinals do not have with a 5.8 WAR and an ERA of 3.00 136 SO’s. By comparison, Grienke has an ERA of 2.87 128 SO’s. Minor does not come with a long-time commitment only thru 2020. IMO he is the way to go.
