April 24, 2024 at 1:39 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #25 thread – Wednesday, April 24 vs. D-backs #249382Jj – will do! That’s one thing they do right!
April 24, 2024 at 1:29 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #25 thread – Wednesday, April 24 vs. D-backs #249377Took a ride on the metro with my lovely frau to the ballpark today to see our team in action. “Action” is a little strong, not too much enthusiasm. Most of our hitters (Gorman, Noot, Herrera, Siani) seem totally outmatched by Montgomery. Gibson started well, but looking tired in the 5th. Stands are no more than half full maybe closer to a third, and quiet. Ticket prices up too. I paid $14 in service fees on top of the ticket price for an on line purchase all electronic. Now off to get a $10 hot dog. Need some runs!
April 20, 2024 at 11:18 am in reply to: StL 2024 Game #20 thread – Friday, April 19 vs. Brewers #248795ZTR – you are correct that walking Contreras should have been the call. Might even walk Adames too and load them up just to get to Ortiz who has only 67 plate appearances in the majors. I wonder what the analytics say about that? Tried to find an explanation from Marmol about why they pitched to Contreras but can’t find one.
April 19, 2024 at 10:24 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #20 thread – Friday, April 19 vs. Brewers #248742Gorman whiffs for the FOURTH time tonight to end the game. Terrible offense all around. And, I’m sorry, but an eight pitch at-bat that ends in a strikeout is not a “good at-bat” despite what the announcers say.
April 9, 2024 at 7:53 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #12 thread – vs. Phillies, Tuesday, April 9 #247329I was 100% o.k. with that trade, BikeMike! 😂
April 9, 2024 at 7:48 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #12 thread – vs. Phillies, Tuesday, April 9 #247325How ‘bout that!? Gorman with the long ball. Good to see that.
Bling – how true.
I don’t want to root for a team whose only concern is the bottom line, but in modern baseball, I suppose that would mean not rooting for anyone.
O.k., so to paraphrase, we’re not where we want to be. We need to do better. We can do better, but it won’t be soon. We just want to start winning consistently then we’ll work on fielding that playoff class team.
To be honest, his remarks are a little scatter-brained. He changes thoughts mid-sentence quite a lot which indicates he hasn’t thought through how to explain their position. Seems to differ quite a bit from the POBO’s comments too which over the last few months were about shoring up the rotation and the bullpen to field a winning team this year.
He mentions that they brought up players last year that weren’t ready for the show, and gave away good talent to do it. I’d say the organization also brought in a GM a few years back that wasn’t ready for the big leagues.
So, yes, we’re frustrated.
Whatever happened to “just win, baby!”?
April 3, 2024 at 5:46 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #7 thread – at Padres, Wednesday, April 3 #246374Better than a zero, he strikes out the side. Makes you wonder why we haven’t used him sooner?
April 3, 2024 at 5:44 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #7 thread – at Padres, Wednesday, April 3 #246372Fernandez gets the nod and isn’t looking too shabby. Would like to see him put up a zero to close out the 8th.
April 1, 2024 at 11:06 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #5 thread – at Padres, Monday, April 1 #246082Hats off to Gibson. That was a great 7 innings!
April 1, 2024 at 10:51 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #5 thread – at Padres, Monday, April 1 #246070I’d put Gibson in for the 7th. Only 79 pitches and pitching well. Pull him if two batters reach base.
April 1, 2024 at 10:45 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #5 thread – at Padres, Monday, April 1 #246065Padres don’t look the same without Soto and Hader. Even as Tatis connects for an upper decker. Good for us.
March 31, 2024 at 8:59 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #4 thread – at Dodgers, Sunday, March 31 #245920Goldy, Gorman, Arenado down 1-2-3 top of the ninth. Not good. Looks like they kind of gave up at the end.
March 31, 2024 at 8:44 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #4 thread – at Dodgers, Sunday, March 31 #245910Feel bad for Matz after his great start.
March 31, 2024 at 8:39 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #4 thread – at Dodgers, Sunday, March 31 #245905Need to get through this inning with that one run lead, then bring Helmsley in to atone for last night.
March 31, 2024 at 8:01 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #4 thread – at Dodgers, Sunday, March 31 #245893Oli with the good decision to pull Matz after 5 1/3. Let’s see if our pen can get him the win.
March 30, 2024 at 11:55 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #3 thread – at Dodgers, Saturday, March 30 #245748Good win! Got to hand it to Gallegos vs. best in the league. Should be a confidence builder.
March 30, 2024 at 11:32 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #3 thread – at Dodgers, Saturday, March 30 #245734Blown lead late innings. Looks like last year. Got the tally in the tenth, so good so far.
March 30, 2024 at 10:41 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #3 thread – at Dodgers, Saturday, March 30 #245708Finally cut some breaks as the Dodgers implode. Good to see.

March 30, 2024 at 10:10 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #3 thread – at Dodgers, Saturday, March 30 #245694Super throw by Burleson! Needed that!
March 30, 2024 at 8:51 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #3 thread – at Dodgers, Saturday, March 30 #245674At this rate, Lynn won’t make it past four innings just on pitch count.
March 30, 2024 at 8:40 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2024 Game #3 thread – at Dodgers, Saturday, March 30 #245665Yamamoto’s off speed stuff looks tough to hit. Good movement and never the same location twice.
