Knock on wood, but Gibson hadn’t had to exert more than 15 pitches of energy in any of his 5 innings of labor this evening. We Cardinal fans aren’t used to seeing this over the past decade out of our starters.

Tatis Jr. goes yard with one out here in the 6th, but luckily nobody was on board for the free ride.

Good point JJ. But I’d still rather see Burly as much as possible before we have to make a decision on shipping him back to Memphis.

I have Walker at leadoff. Forced plate discipline in the strike zone and obp as his path to succeed. His power is natural.

Padres don’t look the same without Soto and Hader. Even as Tatis connects for an upper decker. Good for us.

Oh they better let him go another frame, Jnevel. I think Oli would be immediately terminated if he didn’t trot him back out there in the 7th. Unless we score 2 or more runs in the top of the 7th…..then it would be ok to bring in somebody out of the pen.

I’d put Gibson in for the 7th. Only 79 pitches and pitching well. Pull him if two batters reach base.

Gibson induces the inning ending DP to keep the score 6-2 Birds as we head to the 8th. He pitched a dandy tonight, which was just what the doctor ordered.

12 Cardinal strikeouts tonight. That’s been the only downer.

I looked him up and Blanco’s a 30 yr. old RHP’er who had less than 60 Big League innings of work before tonight’s turn. Looks like he figured it out today.
