So our 5 batters who came in hitting less than 215 were a combined 1 for 20! The other were 4 for 15! We can’t keep playing all 5 of those guys! Herrera should be in every day and Burleson should be in against righty pitching for the moment at least! Night after night of the same pitiful lineup is not working!
Gorman whiffs for the FOURTH time tonight to end the game. Terrible offense all around. And, I’m sorry, but an eight pitch at-bat that ends in a strikeout is not a “good at-bat” despite what the announcers say.
I’m almost at the point of not caring about outcomes again like last year. If they manage to score more than 3 damn runs its a freakin’ miracle.

No,not really. Nobody on the 40 man. There is Moises brick hands Gomez. Koperniak with a .550 OPS, Antico with a .500 OPS, and Jared Young can allegedly play some OF, but he’s hitting .143.

Because our analytics department was 90% through last season before they figured out it’s really a bad idea to sit some of your your best hitters against left-handed pitching simply because they are left-handed.
Because our analytics department keeps putting Goldschmidt in the #2 slot, even though all he is doing is killing rallies.
Counting spring training, as we near the two month mark, Goldy has to be right on the precipice of snapping out of his prolonged slump. And except for Winn, the rest of these slugs(not even remotely confused with “sluggers”) need to look squarely into the closest mirror and take a hard look at themselves. Guaranteed that they won’t like what they see. It’s not usually a good idea to push the panic button, especially this early. But it may be about time before this season gets away from us. Matters need to be shaken up……period.
Do they need an analytics department to tell them not to pitch to a teams best hitter with 2 outs a base open and the game tied in xtras’? Seriously, I can tolerate the streaks and other blips in performance by the players. It’s part of the game. But this is sheer stupidity. I’m truly dejected with what this has turned into. Never mind the malpractice in setting the lineup. BikeMike has the lineup right. They should hire him.

It is always fun to read if the manager or analytics are to blame for decisions that don’t turn out right… Also continue to marvel at how folks believe they know these details…
If the manager is just a puppet following the scripts, as some believe, why would the next guy be any different?
Or if the manager is making bad decisions on his own, then analytics aren’t driving all the calls, after all.

Walking William Contreras in the 10th with first base open was the easiest decision Marmol had last night.
Even if it back fires that is the call in that situation.
With the offense in the crapper for now you just have to walk him there.

In fairness to Helsley, the ghost runner scored on a chopper through the middle of the infield. With two out, he was going with the pitch. Different defensive positioning could have led to an out.

I don’t understand why Nootbaar wasn’t instructed to bunt Goldschmidt to third. That would have given Milwaukee something to think about. Walk Arenado and pitch to the hot hitting Contreras, hoping for a game ending DP? I do not think they pitch to Contreras there. Walk him and pitch to Gorman? Gorman is more of a K threat than a DP threat, and a K would bring up the hot hitting Winn with 2 down and the man on third. Or possibly walk Gorman, setting up a force at every base and a potential game ending DP with Winn at the dish. That is probably how it would have happened. Better the game depends on Winn than Gorman, as sobering a thought as that is. But what was needed was a higher probability of a hit rather than a lower probability of a home run. You bring that about by having Noot bunt.
