He’s lucky to escape relatively unscathed after the 3 BB’s. That 3-0 pitch with the bases jammed could have been a whole lot worse than the RBI BB.

Wow, what a horrible half inning from Thompson. Lucky to be down only 1-0

I’d like to hear Blake’s opinion of Thompsons pitches

Thompson never checks on the runner until after he’s stolen 2B…

Unbelievable…Still, I send him every time on that 3-2 pitch with Goldschmidt standing in.

Goldy can’t even put it in play with Donovan running.

I’d be in favor of taking the lead.

Working today, but from home so have the game on in my home office. Can’t believe that call on the attempted steal by Arenado was not overturned. It did not look like he ever was tagged – did not see him come off the base with a tag applied.

Then the next inning Gorman gets called out on two pitches that were not strikes. Come on ump – he strikes out enough on his own without you helping him!

Thompson has really settled down after a rough start.

Denton has mentioned twice today that Thompson’s velocity is down. Hopefully there isn’t an injury brewing.

Well, say what you want, Thompson has 5 innings in and we are in it. Not his fault our hitters are inept.

Dang – missed opportunity there. Nado ready to pull the trigger figuring Musgrove would be around the plate. Couldn’t hold up. Hope Contreras is okay.

Can’t break through with the key hit. Hopefully Liberatore can keep it close.

This business of hyper-analyzing pitch velocity is one reason pitchers are so fragile these days. They hear that stuff and think “I gotta throw harder as the numbers show I am easing up.” Then they end up over extending and getting hurt.

I don’t see it “alarming” as Denton says. Who knows what is going on – different day, different mound, different atmosphere. No need to be alarmed.

So I guess the Rule 5 guy will make his debut at home which is very strange. Why have a short pen for the whole west coast trip if they are going to just send him back? Why not use the IL if he is hurt? It seems like a bungle.

Nice…E-4 gives Arenado a chance to tie it with a base hit.

Cardinals have been victimized by 4 HBP’s in this game.

Man, we could use a few less double play balls. Lucked out on one, but usually the big leaguers make the play.

We finally use the last man standing, in a 1 run game no less. Ollie does it again. But he looks pretty good – Ks the first guy he faces!

Our big boppers aren’t bopping! Contreras gets a pass here. San Diego was just begging to get swept in this series…..you could see it in the very first inning of Game 1…..you have to Carpe de……I think that’s how you say “seize the” in Greek……you have to Carpe de those golden opportunities and not let them slip away.

Fernandez gets the nod and isn’t looking too shabby. Would like to see him put up a zero to close out the 8th.
