The offense underwhelms again as I lay in the arms of Morpheus. Gorman led the whiffers but had plenty of company.
It’s not that Marmol is such a terrible manager, though perhaps he is, it’s just that there must be better ones out there and resetting the team should start at the top not with tinkering.
Boy, that was painful to watch. I guess one shouldn’t cry about a win, so Hooray Cardinals! Enjoy the left coast.
I’ve always said I’ll love the Cardinals no matter what, but doggone it that “what” is sure getting hard to take!

I’m a little disappointed with him too but I’d give him another season’s look, though perhaps not leading off.I still have a bit of a soft spot for the Nooter, but I’m in favor of buying a couple of Greyhound tickets for the other two.

Bling: I’m more of a lamb chop man than a leg man, but for some reason (I think that’s because it’s what my Mom told me) we always had a leg of lamb at Easter, so I usually do one once a year (thanks Mom). And her version was really quite simple: Stab your meat with a sharp knife 20/30 times, take 10/20 cloves of garlic and slice them into several little sticks each, removing the core. Shove these little sticks into the meat one to each stab wound. Rub the lamb thoroughly with olive oil. Sprinkle all over with a mixture of salt, pepper, crushed thyme and rosemary. Roast at 325F until pink and juicy (about 2 – 2 1/2 hours). Remove from oven and let stand 20/30 minutes.
That’s what I remember from my Mom, but there are myriad other ways and herbs, depending on your taste. Tender juicy lamb is wonderful stuff.

Just watched the replay of last night’s game. Liberatore pitched OK and it’s a shame he couldn’t hold on for the win. Baseball, it seems, has turned into a game of five innings.
The thing that bugged me the most, however, was those was those black uniforms. I wonder who dreamed up such a thing for the “Reds!” Those outfits looked like what I used to wear when I played for Jack’s Green Door on an old farts’ tavern league softball team. HaHa!
Anyway, for those who keep track of such things, the CiFs will be feasting tonight on the usual cold cantaloup, followed by tacos and refried beans, and I think there remains a couple of cartons of Haagen Dazs in the freezer itching to be slathered with chocolate syrup.

Soft, cool rain is falling here today, making it an enjoyable afternoon, a break from those 100-plus days and perfect for squashing Reds.
Prospects are for a nice din-din of ice cold melon, mussels a la mariniere and french fries, ending with a bowl of Haagen-Dasz ice cream liberally sprinkled with fresh raspberries.

A nice, comfortable game that one could sit back and enjoy, though I would have enjoyed a bit more offense even more.
Referring to earlier comments here about Spahn and Mantle, the comments made me wonder if baseball hasn’t been turned into a confederacy of wusses. Whatever happened to “Hey, get up, shake it off and get back in there?” Nowadays when somebody gets a little splinter in his finger or a “contusion” on his butt it is straight to the IL or at least a couple of weeks on the bench (excellent treatment for a butt contusion I might add). People frequently talk about bigger, better, stronger athletes of today. I don’t see it. The slightest little discomfort and call in the docs! I wonder how many splinters and contusions Cal Ripken played through. I guess that’s what millions upon millions has done to the game. Baseball has found a way to find body parts to injure that nobody has ever heard of.
Din din start: Cold cantaloupe.
Main course: Calves liver smothered in onions,
With mashed potatoes and snap beans.
Dessert: Torte a la francaise with ice cream.

Please explain how jamming more teams to the MLB muddle will give us better baseball.
Frankly, apart from continuing to love and support our dear Cardinals I long ago gave up giving a damn who wins what in that incoherent mess they have created.
Another night game tonight too late for an old sleepyhead like me.
I settled for an MLB replay of last night’s ill-treatment of the Fish followed by a din din of ice cold cantaloupe melon, spinach @ ricotta ravioli with pesto sauce, and a large dish of Haagen-Dazs ice cream. I sure wish I could try one of those Popeye’s cinnamon pies, but I fear addiction.
What a wonderful idea! Dilute the quality even further with more expansion. Why not 16 divisions with two teams, each would have a winner and one wild card!
