RHP Andre Pallante (6-10, 5.04) vs. RHP Sandy Alcantara (6-11, 6.31)
FanDuel // KMOXAugust 20, 2025 at 10:02 am #290971Pallante really, really needs to have a good outing. He’s on a bad run right now.

stlcard25ParticipantAgreed, ZTR. Depending on how this off season goes, Pallante could be auditioning for a job next year. Some others like him in the rotation, but I feel that he’s probably just a middle relief or back end spot starter type. We really need more #3-4 and above guys for 2026.
August 20, 2025 at 12:18 pm #290978FYI,
Houston has been shutout in three straight games. Looks familiar, eh what?August 20, 2025 at 1:41 pm #290986Not really…Houston’s in 1st place despite the absence of the illustrious Dusty!
August 20, 2025 at 2:00 pm #290987The Royals now have 5 consecutive W’s and are 8-2 in their last 10 games as they make a push for an ALWC berth. Hopefully they’ll provide the Show Me State with some post-season baseball for the second consecutive season. I happen to believe they have the best 5 tool player in the AL.
August 20, 2025 at 2:32 pm #290990I’m so disgusted with Pallante, and with Liberatore who is running a close second at the end of the pack. I’m just afraid that neither of them will ever be able to figure it out. It might help if their coaches draw out on a chalkboard where the strike zone is. I think what I’m trying to say is that they both have very good stuff. But they just can’t handle the pressure unless everything is going perfectly for them.

August 20, 2025 at 3:18 pm #290993I agree Mud, but I would flip-flop Pallante and Libby, as the expectations were greater with Libby. Every (and that includes you, Sonny!) Redbird starter this year has been a disappointment. But McGreevy can change that dubious distinction with a decent finish to 2025.
I’m not sure where I’m going to din-din tonight, as I’m anxiously awaiting Rat’s weather forecast. I simply don’t trust any other meteorologist. If Rat gives the all-clear and no rain delays are on the immediate horizon, then I’ll probably head on over to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse in about an hour. If Rat says nasty weather looks likely in southern Florida, then I just may rustle up something here at home…….I’m thinking something along the lines of a Swanson’s turkey dinner with all of their fixings, followed by a quick jaunt on over to Popeye’s drive thru lane for not 1…….not 2……not even 3…..but 4 scrumptious apple cinnamon pies. Boy that Italian din-din BicycleMike gobbled up last night just may find itself on the Top 10 All Time Game Thread Din-din list……well done, BicycleMike!
August 20, 2025 at 3:39 pm #290994Pugs – You’ll also get the low-down on the southwest Indiana weather as well – just in case you want to make that a din-din option. I hear there’s a great Amish place.
August 20, 2025 at 4:02 pm #290995I am frying half dozen strips of extra thick hicnkory bacon. Break it in pieces and mix it into some Bob Evans macoroni and cheese. Washed down with Arnie Palmer half and half lemonade and iced tea. Than I have some Tates cc cookies I bought at Costco today. Theyre the real thin crunchy kind. Howeever many I can fit between my thumb and middle finger will accompany me to the easy chair for viewing the rest of the Cardinals game. Of course more iced tea to wash them down.
August 20, 2025 at 4:05 pm #290996Funny stuff, Jnevel! Great suggestion making the 6 hour trek to the greater Jasper area to have din-din with the esteemed Rat, but then after din-din, he’d probably talk me into hopping on his golf cart with him to go swipe some gravel. Not wanting to appear like a wimp, how could I decline his offer? If events went array, I could end up doing a 6 month stretch in the IDC (Indiana Department of Corrections), which would be a fairly hefty price to pay for having din-din with Rat……hmm maybe it would be worth the risk.
Sweet din-din KeepComingBack.
August 20, 2025 at 4:31 pm #290998Lady bling and her sister are recreating in Hot Springs, so I am on my own again all week. What is a man supposed to do when his wife runs off? I picked up a stack of frozen pot pies and a watermelon, so thats din in for a few days.
August 20, 2025 at 4:37 pm #290999Another night game tonight too late for an old sleepyhead like me.
I settled for an MLB replay of last night’s ill-treatment of the Fish followed by a din din of ice cold cantaloupe melon, spinach @ ricotta ravioli with pesto sauce, and a large dish of Haagen-Dazs ice cream. I sure wish I could try one of those Popeye’s cinnamon pies, but I fear addiction.
August 20, 2025 at 4:44 pm #291002A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do Bling. I always have pot pies around.

August 20, 2025 at 6:57 pm #291007What is a man supposed to do when his wife runs off?
Live it up, Bling. I’ve had 3 wives…..and counting. And each and every time when they hit the road for a few days it was total heaven. Not having to immediately pick up after yourself or getting nagged on what or what not to eat……just to name a couple things. Now I didn’t want them gone forever, or I wouldn’t have married them in the first place. But having them away for a week or two was always a most welcome event.
I wish I could try one of Popeye’s cinnamon pies, but I fear addiction.
Smart move, Cardinal in France. I honestly think they are more addicting than smoking. I indulge in them 4-5 times a week…….and never imagine kicking the “habit”.

ParticipantDown 3-1 Middle of 5th. Starting off slow tonight. Palante starting off slow.He really seems to have an over the top delivery to me. This ump seems to have a strike zone at ankle high!
August 20, 2025 at 7:07 pm #291009Wooster2
ParticipantHot Popeyes cinamon pies need melted Vanilla ice cream on them!
August 20, 2025 at 7:22 pm #291010That’s sweet music to my ears, Wooster!

ParticipantDon’t think I’ve seen the Popeyes apple pie brand in the grocery store Pugs.Maybe they want to get full retail for them.Popeyws used to have good onion rings too but they stopped selling them ywars ago. Not our night tonight so far.Pozo makes a good backstop but I haven’t seen him throw out a base stealer yet? Need a dbl play to get out of the 8th now.

ParticipantWalked in a run -our bull pen not real good tonight. 9th inning left
August 20, 2025 at 8:34 pm #291013Wooster2
ParticipantIt’s a loser! 2 runs off 5 hits. Alot of non-contributors. Not sure what that was. Elusive strike zone as well as bullpen. Tomorrow is the Rays.
August 20, 2025 at 8:42 pm #291015Had a chance to sweep, but I’d say winning 2 of 3 on the road against a comparable team is the best you could hope for.
August 20, 2025 at 9:02 pm #291018Not every team can roll out 3 mop up guys. Impressive.
