Maybe Mo and Co will take the Alex Anthopoulos with the Braves approach and go ahead and work out a contract extension to keep Winn in town for a few years after he would hit FA.
Lodolo had a 2.62 HR/9 last year, albeit in limited innings returning from the injury. And Lynn led the league in qualified pitchers with 2.16 HR/9. With this game being in Cincy, we may see a few HRs today. Who knows though and maybe we end up seeing a pitching duel.
It is a little odd to me that there are no full season minors games on Memorial Day. I know Monday is the typical off day for the full season minors, but you think they would modify the schedule so all teams had a break in their 6 game series on Thursday to have a full weekend slate of games. It would be a nice little extra injection of cash into the minors teams holding home games Memorial Day Monday as I imagine attendance has historically been higher with people off work.
Maybe others have seen something more recent in a tweet ago, but this is the latest news I had read in him from a couple of weeks ago. It does t sound like there is a clear time table for his return as it is wait and see on the healing. I had seen stuff from before this about maybe late May, but given the lack of news from the Cards and a rehab assignment, I assume that isn’t the case.

Bling is always so negative and only looking at the downsides in things. The Sosa/Romero swap has easily been a win win for both teams. At the time of the trade, Sosa was playing very poorly, but he was out of options. We likely were going to waive him and someone could claim him, but we got a very good BP piece out of him.
Probably not, but we also have 1/5th (6 teams) of the league over .600. that cutoff misses the Braves and Brewers who are close to .600 as well.
Tonight is an ESPN game right? I don’t mind if it gets rained out then since I won’t be able to watch it in MLB TV.
Noot! I know Rats somehow thinks Noot is a disappointment, but I think talent wise he is the best hitter we have on the active roster with Goldy and Arenado showing aging signs.
Wow I’m am glad Anaya missed that tag. They should have had Burly dead to rights. The big man was running hard and thankfully he got in with that slide

Bling, Goldy dropped the throw from Gorman. The throw wasn’t great, but it went in Goldy’s glove and stayed for a second and fell right out
Ah yeah obviously Oli. Multitasking and not reading what I write. Mikolas likely goes out there and gives up runs and then still doesn’t finish the 7th meaning you have to use RP anyway. I recall a couple of times this year of that pattern occurring when Oli let Mikolas try to go for the 7th.
I honestly think Oli made the right call. Mikolas has not been good this year and our best RP are more likely to pitch well to win the game. They are rested and we only have 5 games before another off day
Oh the series in in Cincinnati. At least the Reds offense has been putrid, but Lynn and his himer tendencies + a hitters paradise doesn’t bode well.
I would still say Robberse looks like the guy to take Liberatore’s spot if Liberatore doesn’t pitch well. Robberse had one bad outing, and he has been pitching well in a very hitters friendly IL where the average ERA is 4.96. I wouldn’t expect Robberse to be amazing, but to pitch more like a #5 and at this point, we need that. Obviously we need a true #2 and #3 in our rotation as well, but I don’t see any hope of that until (and importantly if) Hence or Roby are ready.
Thanks for including the video from Springfield’s Twitter Brian. The slow mo replays were a great chance to view Hence’s stuff. His changeup is deadly and should really help him neutralize left handed batters.
Hence had a really good game last night. 6 shutout innings with 13 Ks and 1 BB.
His K%-BB% in the season is 24.2%. He may make another couple of starts for AA since he had a couple bad ones, but I expect Hence to be in AAA by the end of June.
