Willie, you don’t think the park matters? The park has a massive effect. I’m not sure how you could think it is an apples to apples comparison for the hitters or pitchers pitching in Colorado versus Seattle. Coors can make very mediocre hitters look amazing counting stat wise.
I’m not sure why everyone is acting like Stewart has had a significantly better offensive year. He has more HRs and RBIs, but he plays in a little league park and his wRC+ is only 6 points higher than Wetherholt’s who has been far superior with the glove at a more valuable position while not being a liability on the basepaths like Stewart.
64, he is hurt. He got hurt earlier in the year and came back for a handful of games and got hurt again. I believe it was a hamstring injury.
I don’t see Bernal coming up this year even as a September callup so definitely not in agreement with Denton.
Do you think teams count on that and just don’t add any prospects to the 40 man since it won’t matter? Seems like realistically that is the smartest option for the team so they don’t have to clog up the 40 man.
The Springfield lineup with Gurevitch and Peete being promoted and then Ragsdale coming in is going to be fun. A lineup full of top 30 prospects in the system.
Flaherty had performed horribly that year to destroy his value and the return on him was never stated to be good.
There wasn’t really a point in not trading May and Romero. They were going to be free agents and may as well get something for them.
I really like the May/Romero trade and that return looks great. I would have preferred to keep Nootbaar instead of trading him for that return.
Stanek did end up being so bad no one wanted him. They should just DFA him.
And speaking of DFAs I guess no one wanted to give something up for him to jump the waiver process for Tink Hence. Maybe he can get through waivers but I kind of doubt it. Some team that traded away some 40 man guys will try to claim him and stash him away.
Willie, you have said you think defense is really important before. I assume you think base running is valuable as well. WAR just combined all aspects of the game to measure a player overall. The guys who have the highest WAR are goys who are good at all aspects of the game or excel exceptionally in one area. JJ has been above average offensively and base running wise, but excelled at an incredible level on defense.

Ragsdale and Peete look very similar skillset wise. I’m curious who they play in CF in AA.
What type of person is betting in general, let alone on baseball, and then specifically random stuff like this?
I’ve never understood betting as the system is designed for you to lose more than you win (otherwise the organizers would go broke). Seems like people like throwing their money away
Herrera is catching today so I’ll say Liberatore has a good start and either gets a quality start or is within an out or two innings wise to get one.
With Peoria winning the double header yesterday, all full season clubs are .500 or over at the moment. We will see if Peoria can win today to keep it that way.
The new CBA could prevent them financially from re-signing Skubal with a hard cap or much more harsh soft cap penalties. But they also likely are more incentives to sign him to a long term deal during the season or before the lockout officially begins.
The reason I think there is more incentive to sign him early is the new CBA likely will have some grace period for teams to drop down from pre-CBA term changes. Even if they put a hard cap (I’m opposed), there wouldn’t be a way for the Dodgers, Mets, and some other teams to drop down as they already have commitments for way above the amount the cap would be.
It was an acceptable first big league start. Quinn’s pitches look good he just needs to fine tune some things and be a little more aggressive with 2 strikes. That and calming down as he missed some fastballs he was trying to do a little too much on.
The changeup is a really good pitch though and Quinn’s fastball looks great to me as well.
He seems a bit jumpy which I guess is understandable in a debut.
Yeah that is what it looks like to me. A few pitches he looks like he is trying to do a little extra with. He needs to just trust his stuff and relax a little. He could be a little more aggressive and throw some strikes with 2 strikes rather than wasting a few. Not bad though as the stuff looks good and he has done a good job working up, down, and inside.
He has shook off Crooks a lot. You would think him and Crooks would be more on the same page since Crooks has caught him this year.
I really dislike the full wrap around ad graphic behind home plate. It keeps glitching out and distracts from being able to enjoy watching the game.
Quinns changeup was looking really good. It has a lot of movement on it
Maybe they can at least get something out of Hence, but I am not disappointed if they don’t. He had many opportunities and for Hence and the Cards it is best to move on.
Herrera simply manages a staff better than Pages from what I have seen. I think people see a catchers arm and associate their game calling to be on par with their arm quality. Herrera’s arm is worse by a lot, but it doesn’t really matter that often compared to sequencing which is an every pitch occurrence.
Catcher ERA isn’t the perfect stat, but the comparison is interesting. Herrera has the best cERA and the wmhe gets talked about you would think his arm is leading to multiple extra allowed per game.
Herrera – 347.0 innings, 3.86 cERA, -2 DRS, -2 FRV
Crooks – 186.1 innings, 4.11 cERA, -3 DRS, 1 FRV
Pages – 420.2 innings, 4.32 cERA, -1 DRS, 4 FRVIs Herrera a good defensive catcher overall? No but he is more than fine handling catching duties twice a week.
He is starting Saturday booyah. And I expect he mostly will keep taking turns in the rotation with May’s spot being open after the trade deadline.

That Palm Beach lineup is getting more fun as they promote more guys there. A lot of young, upside guys in Padilla, Dos Santos, Hernandez, Mitchell.
All around a good day on offense. Gurevitch and Rainiel with really good days. I’m curious if Gurevitch will spend the Sep in Springfield.
