Some good news there with Middleton and Naughton. Also looking forward to Quinn pitching in A+. If he pitches well there I bet they promote him to AA by late summer as he is still only about league average age for High A.
Saw where Middleton threw 6 pitches with one strike and walked the only batter he faced last night for Springfield. Is that right? Any news on that?

That is great to hear about Loutos. I wonder what the 40 man change will be. Will it be Roycroft or will Ingram be DFA’ed by yet another club this year? Roycroft has actually been more impressive than I thought and he may get claimed. I’m not saying he has been good, but he has some value as an up down RP as he still have 3 option years.
It’s only a guess, but they could move Contreras to a 60-day IL placement. Still have to send someone off the 25 man roster.
I forgot Rivas was even in the 40 man, so yeah he could be it. As far as who leaves the 26 man, it will be Roycroft or Robertson as we need a fresh arm and they both have options.

05/25/24 – FCL Cardinals placed CF Romtres Cabrera on the 7-day injured list.
Two quick questions: (1) players on the 40-man roster who are on optional assignment to the minors are still making their major-league salary for the time they are sent down, right? they don’t only earn the salary during the time they are called up to the active roster? And (2) what is the average salary for a Memphis player who is NOT on the 40-man roster?
-JoeJoe, players on the 40 man only get MLB pay while they are in the bigs and not when they are in the minors. Last year I believe AAA pay was $35k plus some sort of housing arrangement or allowance. I think I saw where an optioned player gets something more than straight AAA pay, but I’m not sure.
The way I understand it, guys who are optioned are making $57,200 or $114,100 depending on service time. Once they hit arbitration though, I don’t think they see a salary cut if they get sent down.
