I’m always looking for prospects’ stats moving upward. If you follow the Redbird’s you might have noticed that Nicky Dunn has been hitting his way on base in May and raised his BA to.296 (OPS 1.037)….. and .351n the road. In April he finished the month at .234…. so big improvement since then. Dunn has made 6 stops in the organization since being drafted in the 5th round in ’18 at age 21. Now at age 27 and being a 2B it looks like he won’t make it to STL because of the logjam ahead of him. We’ll probably lose him in the rule 5…. or he’ll become a career MiLB in this organization. Too bad the guy plays with his heart.

Dunn got caught in the COVID lost season/minors reconfiguraion situation. Coming back in 2021 the slimmed down 2020 draft class were the shiny new toys. He now has benefit of having been in the upper levels full time since the beginning of the 2021 season. His only hope here is if Arenado gets moved out at the deadline, which I give a 1% chance of happening.

Memphis lists “TBA” as starting pitcher tomorrow (Tuesday). Last night was Graceffo, and Thompson followed Graceffo last time through the rotation. Does this signal Thompson will get the start in Cincy?

It is a little odd to me that there are no full season minors games on Memorial Day. I know Monday is the typical off day for the full season minors, but you think they would modify the schedule so all teams had a break in their 6 game series on Thursday to have a full weekend slate of games. It would be a nice little extra injection of cash into the minors teams holding home games Memorial Day Monday as I imagine attendance has historically been higher with people off work.
