Wacha can’t have a high pitch count yet, can he? At this point, he looks like a bullpen option.
September 7, 2018 at 8:47 pm #68672The @CRKernels win 4-0 & advance to the Western Division Championship Series for the 5th straight season! The Kernels host Peoria tomorrow night in Game 1 at 6:35 pm!

September 7, 2018 at 10:29 pm #68691And Max “The Rock” Schrock wins it for Memphis with his third hit of the game!!!

Memphis vs. OKC Game 4 – Jake Westbrook
Peoria vs. Cedar Rapids Game 1 – Angel RondonSeptember 8, 2018 at 8:11 am #68703I hope Angel (pronounced “An-hell”) Rondon is poised to deliver a healthy dose of misery to that Kernel squad out of Cedar Rapids today. And how about “The Rock” coming up huge in last night’s clipping of OKC!

stlcard25ParticipantI did a double take when I saw Jake Westbrook as the Memphis starter! Maybe that’s not a bad future comp for Woodford though, with the power sinker and not many strikeouts.
September 8, 2018 at 11:12 pm #68776Well, Westbrook turns 41 in few weeks. Woodford is just 21.
Game 4 between Memphis and Oklahoma City was postponed and will be played on Sunday as part of a DH. Peoria won the opener of its semifinal series. Our Player of the Day is Chiefs 2B Nick Dunn, who went 3-for-5 and drove in the winning runs in the ninth. https://t.co/Py09nosG5B pic.twitter.com/cQtePILLqC

Peoria vs. Cedar Rapids Game 2 – Jake DahlbergSeptember 9, 2018 at 12:31 pm #6880714NyquisT
ParticipantYesterday’s win for Peoria was their first one in a division championship series since 2002.
The Cedar Rapid Kernels brought in a AA pitcher(Sammons) to start this series. The Chiefs had only two hits against him in the first seven innings but once they got into the bullpen things started happening. Player of the Day Nicky Dunn came through big time possibly making up for his poor showing since being called up from Sate College.
Chiefs need just one more win to get into the League Championship round. The 4-man rotation (Dahlberg-Rondon-Oviedo-Prendergast) that they’ve been using has been pitching well
September 9, 2018 at 5:35 pm #68844Down 3-1 going into the B/10th, the valiant Redbirds rallied for a 4-3 victory to move onto the league championship series. Game-winning hit compliments of Giovanny Gallegos who singled to left with the sacks jammed and two outs. THAT’S what happens when you IBB Schrock to face the mighty GG!!
September 9, 2018 at 5:37 pm #68845Peoria up 5-0 over Cedar Rapids in the T/7th. Dahlberg pitching a 3-hit gem so far
September 9, 2018 at 6:21 pm #68847Peoria sweeps Cedar Rapids out of the play-offs. Dahlberg 9 K’s in 8 IP.

ParticipantI was in attendance at Peoria game. Beautiful evening at Dozer Park. Dahlberg is a sleeper prospect for a LH relief role if nothing else. Keeps hitters off balance by changing speeds with 74 to 89 mph and had superior control working both sides of the plate. Ortega impressive catcher. Dunn, Kirtley and Baker hitting well.
September 10, 2018 at 9:58 am #68878I don’t believe I have ever heard of a pitcher getting a walk off hit to win a series. Great to see Memphis winning in spite of all of the player depletions. And Peoria going to the finals too!!

Memphis at Fresno – Tyler Lyons
Peoria vs. Bowling Green – Johan OviedoSeptember 12, 2018 at 11:29 pm #69201What the hell has happened to Tyler Lyons? He went from being a dependable MLB lefty to being designated to Memphis to just being trash. His AAA postseason numbers are garbage and tonight was no exception.

ParticipantLyons had a horrible night and it might have cost game 1, although Memphis could only score 1 run. Being down 6-0 in the second certainly didn’t help.
Lyons may be heading out of the organization. He’ll be 31 if he makes it to Spring training and being taken off the 40-man roster won’t be helping his cause. Not to mention his in effectiveness in STL. and I don’t know if being a lefty will save him.
A big disappointment last night.
September 13, 2018 at 9:33 am #69216Memphis lost, but managed a road split in Games 1 and 2 of the PCL finals. Peoria was shut out in the opener of the MWL finals, held at Dozer Park. Redbirds C Andrew Knizner had two hits and scored the lone #STLCards run across the two Thursday contests. https://t.co/A8rEMI2qwd pic.twitter.com/fIIrftcZm0

Bowling Green at Peoria: Zach Prendergast
September 14, 2018 at 6:03 am #69294Nice to see our young Chiefs squad cool off that stellar Hot Rods unit out of Bowling Green, Kentucky. 2-1 your final with Zach Prendergast logging 6 2/3’s innings of scoreless 2 hit baseball, striking out 7 and walking just 1 Hot Rod in the process. Kodi Whitley earned the Save with 2 innings of efficient work and Yariel Gonzalez was the game’s hitting star going 3-4 at the dish, including a ringing 1st inning double that brought the paltry crowd of just 874 Dozer patrons to their feet. The series now trailblazes it’s way east to Daniel Boone country for a potential 3 more games to decide the victor. Though only 18 years young, I think this decisive 3 game road series for all of the marbles is going to tell us much about Nolan Gorman. I bet he rises to the occasion and puts on a good show…should be interesting!
