Don’t be tricked by the batting average; Dylan Carlson Was an above average batter in the Florida State League, with a 112 wRC+, and in spite of a mediocre .286 BABIP. From 2017 to 2018, Dylan decreased his strikeouts by 25%, improved his walks by 20%, and bumped his isolated slugging by more than 40%. And his defense is graded far above average at Baseball Prospectus, as he is 14.6 runs above average in 277 career games. Solid baserunner, too. Destroyed the Mexican League last year (164 wRC+) and the Texas League this year at age 23 (170 wRC+), with sturdy plate discipline, average defense at the keystone, and okay baserunning. His AAA struggles don’t bother me much, as 2018 was his first taste of U.S. pro baseball. One of the 8-10 most overlooked prospects in the game right now, for any organization. Still so young. Mercado looked horrible after his first 2 years. I’d like to think Perez could have such a resurgence.8 Randy Arozarena-bat really came alive in the playoffs. Kinda has a Tommy Pham kind of game to me.
9 Malcom Nunez-love the high leg kick. Seems to barrel up everything he swings at. My favorite stat…44 games, only 3 or 4 games(mobile, going off my ever worsening memory) he wasn’t on base. .497 OBP. Oh and that triple crown thing.
10. Genesis Cabrera-Plenty of stuff. Still time to bring it all together and be the dominant lefty we all want.
With 21 votes in and 15 different players picked, I am personally loving the tremendous turnout.
Right now, I have Malcolm Nunez with 32 “points”, Helsley with 27, and Poncedeleon with 23.
These three as BHC mentioned are the overwhelming choices so I am going to close the vote for #8-10.
Voting can begin for #11-15 with a lot of really great choices out there.
O’Neill watch: 123 At-bats, 7 shy of the limit. They don’t seem like they will give him another start until likely the last day of the season so he has to pinch-hit and register in the box score. We will probably vote for 6 at some point if he loses eligibility.
This thread is gaining more popularity than the Miss America pageant and it’s lame new restrictions. Very pleased to see Malcom finally hit the board…. albeit 7 picks past where he should have been…but time will tell.
As the old adage says “when the rough gets going the tough get rolling”. Well we’re there. We are entering the stages where the voting is not for the timid. Our selections now require much study and due diligence. And it’s only natural that some of us simply will not be willing to extend the energy. We’ll find out soon who drops out and who has the inner fortitude and energy to carry on this all important endeavor to it’s conclusion. Personally, I’m still mulling the matter over to myself whether I have what it takes to carry on the good fight?????

If would be nice if we could complete the tradition with Bert Parks and the swimsuit contest. Nunez will have to do.
#11-Randy Arozarena. I think he’s going to have a big (130ish wRC+) year in Memphis next year and make people feel silly for not placing him in the TCN top 10.
#12-Lane Thomas. Risky with the potential of being a one year wonder but I had him top 10 so here he is.
#13-Dylan Carlson. He’s just been solid everywhere so far and always young for his level. If he had more power at this point we’d be looking at him like Nolan Gorman. I think it will show up in Springfield next year (at age 20!) and he will be a top 100 overall guy at the end of the year. Good arm, good athlete.
#14-Adolis Garcia. Seeing a run on OF with my personal rankings right now. He’s the one I feel has the lowest ceiling of the 4 so he goes here. He may end up being a 4th OF. The arm and the power are intriguing.
#15-Griffin Roberts. He’s new to the farm and his debut was hit or miss (but he did generate a lot of whiffs). I’m not sure what the Carfs plan to do with him long term but he could be a Dakota Hudson fast-riser through the system. He’s got that big breaker that could be his ticket to the big leagues, which he probably will reach at a minimum.

13.Tommie Edman-INF- switch hitting player who hit .300 at AAA and AA and stole 30 bases and has a 87 K/43 BB makes good contact and versatile.
14. Luken Baker 1B-21 year old 1B hit over .300 coming off serious injury and has decent BB/K rate.Expect him to rise thru the system quickly
15.Seth Elledge RHP-got taste of AAA.Between AAA and AA he had 13-15 saves 55 ip 74 Ks 21 BB.That Tommy Pham deal starts to look dicey if neitehr Williams nor Cabrera aren’t in our top 10-15 prospects. We gave up far more for Ozuna. I have Alcantara (and Flaherty) on this hill in my fantasy league playoffs tonight.
Alright, ready to do my picks:
#11 – Griffin Roberts, RHP, could move very fast in the organization. 1st round pick as well, which we have developed quite successfully.
#12 – Randy Arozarena, OF, elite talent, great plate discipline numbers. He should be a top 10 player.
#13 – Jack Woodford, RHP, made it to AAA and pitched well. Did well in the playoffs too. He’s just 21 guys. Will play all of 2019 as a 22 year old at AAA. That’s exciting.
#14 – Genesis Cabrera, LHP, also made it to AAA this year. Also 21 years old. I’m sure he will be pitching in STL by late 2019. Putting that kind of potential at #14 is a little bit criminal.
#15 – Adolis Garcia, OF, playing in STL, did well at AAA hitting homeruns, not so much with plate discipline. Garcia is an elite athlete and had another stellar year with the arm ~ 13 assists at AAA.
