Check the current Cardinals Spring Training hitting stats. They seem to support my claim. Do they not?
wally, ya think Oli will start Burleson against LHP? He’s been hanging in there pretty good versus lefties. Burleson has been one of the top, if not the top Cardinal hitter, in spring training.
Goldschmidt and Nootbaar are much more vulnerable to the inning ending K against the great RHP pitchers than Burleson.
In a clutch RBI situation against a brilliant RHP. I’m taking Burly, right now, over anybody on the team. Maybe Donovan is right there with him. Who would you CNers prefer? Some, you might prefer, are much more vulnerable to the K than Burly is against a power RH pitcher.
For what it’s worth, my gut feeling is Burleson is one of the finest pure hitters in the Cardinals organization. Now at the MLB level. And he seems to be advancing his defensive prowess in LF. I guess time will tell.
I’m predicting a very solid season for Burleson both offensively and defensively. One of the few things I like about the Oli extension is that Oli seems to really value Burleson as a player and as a good teammmate.
One of the announcers today mentioned that Burleson is a good athlete. Or something to that effect. He made a really nice catch today.
Is anybody else impressed with Burleson’s defensive play in LF? Is he becoming at least an average left fielder? He also has a fairly strong, accurate arm. I still would like to see more home run power from him as a corner outfielder. I feel he has the ability to do that.
It’s like some have told me in the past. You can look that up. And yes, I’m just an amateur fan. Are you more than that?
I was surprised Prieto wasn’t called up last season. He is one of the more consistent hitters in the organization.
By the way, in this scenario, Gorman would be moved to 1B after Goldschmidt is traded or not resigned. It might be time to move on with youth.
A suggestion, try enjoying and participating in the message board more instead of attempting to be the hall monitor.
Sorry. you are probably correct. I just thought this was unique because of the Edman/Donovan trade chip speculation. And I supported the reasoning behind it.
Anybody, with even minimal baseball aptitude, can see the potential of Scott, Saggese and Prieto. Even a novice like me can. It’s not that complicated.
The Oli extension must be the laugh of baseball. What the hell is going on? Doesn’t a manager need to earn his security? At least, Oli seems to be in the Burleson camp.
UConn, some of these Cards Talk deadbeats are frustrated they can’t play their games here like they do elsewhere. I’m so proud to have a good forum, minus the harassment, to discuss Cardinals baseball. Please don’t let their childish mind games persist here.
Burleson, Saggese and Prieto have fabulous potential as MLB hitters. The Cardinals are fortunate to have them in the organization. How it plays out for these three in this organization is anybody’s guess.
Thanks for your desire for civility. Frankly, Prieto is seeming more and more comparable to Donovan as a hitter. I don’t feel discussing Saggese’s and Prieto’s future is “premature/redundant”. It’s quite timely. The good thing, they have options. They just need to keep hitting at a high level. Scott’s path to the bigs does seem more imminent because of his speed, disruptive ability on the basepaths, and CF defense.
