Both could likely be productive MLB players already. But they both could use some time at AAA. Recently, the Cardinals, in general, seem injury prone. Having young studs like Scott and Saggese, ready to be the “next man up”, provides quality insurance this season. Actually, the way Prieto can hit, he’s kind of in that category for needed infield help.

The cards are depending on a lot of unproven and injury prone players, chances are good we see a lot of those 2,Moe is terrible at building a roster

    John Mozeliak’s nickname is Mo.

Let’s back off the repeated corrections of others, please. We don’t need spelling policing. Back to baseball. Thanks.

Scott’s speed and defense should play at any time and he’s a good guy to have nearly ready for in a pinch. Saggese has hit everywhere he’s been but we’ve seen that before. We should hope that one of them is ready to make an impact by 2025 but that we need neither of them this year.

As I said, both Scott and Saggese could use some seasoning at AAA. However, it’s very possible that they both could contribute to the Cardinals in ’24. Especially Scott, with his speed and defense in CF.

Shady – what are some of the specific historical stats that you like for both Scott and Saggese?

Shady – You seem to be high on Prieto, too. What stats give you such a good opinion? Thanks very much.

This team doesn’t require a lot of insurance coverage in the sense that no one who is thinking clearly carries anything more than the minimal required liability coverage on an old rust bucket banger.

Shady – still waiting for your statistical analyses of Saggese, Scott, and Prieto. Looking forward to seeing why you’re so high on them. Maybe some quotes from a few scouting reports too? Thanks very much.

Anybody with even minimal common sense, baseball-wise, should be able to ascertain that those three are fine hitting prospects.

In the interest of civility Shady, I agree that these 3 are interesting PROSPECTS. Scott may have a situational path to the Major league squad shortly, but hasn’t even played at AAA yet. His skill set is unique. We’ll see.

Saggese looks like a nice pickup who is probably blocked with the depth of middle infielders.

Prieto hits but not much else. Lots of 2nd basemen now.

Hopefully they develop, but serious discussion of their future on the Cards MLB roster seems premature/redundant now.

Thanks for your desire for civility. Frankly, Prieto is seeming more and more comparable to Donovan as a hitter. I don’t feel discussing Saggese’s and Prieto’s future is “premature/redundant”. It’s quite timely. The good thing, they have options. They just need to keep hitting at a high level. Scott’s path to the bigs does seem more imminent because of his speed, disruptive ability on the basepaths, and CF defense.

Hey Shady I talked to my friend the red sox scout today and he is really high on Saggese and he also had a great chuckle about the Oli extension

The Oli extension must be the laugh of baseball. What the hell is going on? Doesn’t a manager need to earn his security? At least, Oli seems to be in the Burleson camp.

The DeWitt/Mo regime is dubious, indeed.

Still waiting for your statistical analyzes of those 3, Shady. Looking forward to facts to augment your visual impressions. And perhaps some quotes from a few scouting reports. Thank you very much.

Anybody, with even minimal baseball aptitude, can see the potential of Scott, Saggese and Prieto. Even a novice like me can. It’s not that complicated.

What may be so evident to you, unfortunately isn’t translating well to some fans. If you could better flesh-out, or limit your some of your immediate impressions until better formed, I think that would be helpful.

I don’t disagree with you on the possible potential of these guys.

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on C. Prieto?

Why so long with no progression in the Minors? Looks like he can hit, but he’s stuck positionally ? Anything to add here?

I was surprised Prieto wasn’t called up last season. He is one of the more consistent hitters in the organization.

What’s his background, Shady? Where’s he from? How many years in the minors, and at what levels? What about his slash lines at each level? All of that would be helpful so we can see some facts.

Yeah, I’d be interested to know the correct pronunciation of his name and whether or not it rhymes with Nieto?

Shady – Just looking for some minor league stats and quotes from scouting reports to see why you think these 3 prospects have potential. That would be really great. For instance, I’m high on Adam Kloffenstein. Wouldn’t you want to know why?
Without backup, it’s just an amateur’s opinion, which isn’t worth a whole lot.

It’s like some have told me in the past. You can look that up. And yes, I’m just an amateur fan. Are you more than that?
