With the emergence of Winn, Scott, Saggese and Prieto. Future SS, CF, 2B and utility look to be covered by these four. Making Edman and Donovan expendable for fairly level starting pitching.
March 17, 2024 at 10:30 am #244310fairly high level starting pitching.
March 17, 2024 at 10:34 am #244311This should’ve gone under your other Saggese and Prieto threads.
March 17, 2024 at 11:01 am #244312There should not even be other Saggese and Prieto threads. There is a pinned thread above for trade ideas. There are a couple threads for ST conversation. Shady and other newer commenters please quite cluttering up the board with endless new threads.
March 17, 2024 at 11:03 am #244313Sorry. you are probably correct. I just thought this was unique because of the Edman/Donovan trade chip speculation. And I supported the reasoning behind it.
March 17, 2024 at 11:10 am #244314he’s the only one making new threads, so the repeated warnings that are going out are only at him.
We may need the UConnGuy to land in here and break down the issue line by line.
March 17, 2024 at 11:17 am #244315A suggestion, try enjoying and participating in the message board more instead of attempting to be the hall monitor.
March 17, 2024 at 11:19 am #244316By the way, in this scenario, Gorman would be moved to 1B after Goldschmidt is traded or not resigned. It might be time to move on with youth.
March 17, 2024 at 11:21 am #244317I agree, this falls under the trade ideas thread. Wherever that is. I’m just catching on here.
March 17, 2024 at 11:43 am #244319I agree it is a worthwhile idea to talk about. We all sometimes have worthwhile ideas, but we need to resist the temptation to think our own ideas should get more attention than everyone else’s that are posted to the existing threads. I like to think I have worthwhile ideas, and I have created 19 threads in 14 years.
March 17, 2024 at 11:49 am #244321Shady, it’s almost as if they shouldn’t have a “Create a New Post Tab”…. They should remove it, b/c they obviously don’t want new posts. (You do make repetitive new OP’s, so that is bothersome…but the elitism from “Oldies” is really disgusting.
I can’t believe I’m defending you here. I think they just like ridiculing new people, and taking extreme stances no matter what it is.
You need, crave attention, this board isn’t the one you’re looking for, they’ve clipped your wings more times than anyone should have. Still weird to defend you on anything, but it’s the fair assessment.
Find somewhere that will let you spam to your hearts content.
Good day to you.
March 17, 2024 at 4:48 pm #244379This has nothing to do with the “oldies” being elitist or anything like that. Shady or anyone else can post 1000 times a day if they want but they shouldn’t have to create 1000 different threads to do it. That is unwieldy, hard to navigate, and frankly narcissistic.
March 17, 2024 at 9:43 pm #244407Nope…trade neither.
March 17, 2024 at 11:05 pm #244408Yes, I’d trade Edman first and either Donovan later or at the same time.
March 18, 2024 at 6:26 am #244411Well, I’m getting along in years and my eyes ain’t what they used to be, but I have yet to see Winn, Scott, Saggese and prieto “emerge,” as you put it, so I would not be in a great hurry to trade off Edman and Donovan.
March 18, 2024 at 6:54 am #244412Chiseling in the hot prospects dujour is a neverending exercise.
March 18, 2024 at 7:11 am #244414Major trades like these are unlikely until at least July, and more realistically, not until the next off-season. So much can happen between now and then to change the picture…
The moderators and I understand that some new posters don’t like how this board is run. However, keep in mind that you are our guests here and we ask you work more on fitting in, rather then trying to change this board to meet the expectations you brought here with you. Or as some have already decided, if this is not the right place for you, that is your choice. Refunds are cheerfully provided! 😉
And for those who stay, let’s have fewer new threads on topics that can clearly fit elsewhere. You’ve been asked nicely several times by mods and others.
Also, I have looked at the posting records of several folks who are not adding to the baseball discussion, but instead are mostly commenting on other posters. That needs to stop. No one wants to read that stuff.
If you don’t like a thread or a post, simply let it go. If others do the same, it will soon drop down the page and perhaps those who made the original post will get the idea.
If anyone wants to speak with me, my email address is in every article I post. Further, there is a CONTACT US area at the top of the page that anyone can use at any time. Let’s keep the public posts on the board focused on the Cardinals, not each other.
I really hope this is the last time I or any of the mods have to comment about this subject. If folks would just read the forum rules and follow them, none of this would be necessary.
Thank you and I hope everyone has a good week!

ParticipantA good week to you too, Brian. Enjoy Jupiter. Looking forward to some great reports. Will miss being there this year.
March 21, 2024 at 12:33 pm #244598Edman and Donovan are similar in their ability to play good defense at multiple positions, plus provide adequate offense and good speed.
Brendan has an advantage of being a little younger, while Tommy has an advantage of being a swith-hitter (even though he sometimes bat right against a righty).
At some point trading one of those guys might be needed. Right now with both dealing with injuries and recovery, we would be selling low.
