You need to give a Cardinals’ scout a call with you specific concerns. Most of us here are just amateur observers. But, from my amateur observations, I’ll say this. The Cardinals organization has some fine hitters in Burleson, Saggese and Prieto. Like I said, you likely need to consult a professional scout for detailed information.
March 24, 2024 at 4:25 pm in reply to: Scott and Saggese provide solid insurance this season #244854Sometimes, you just have to trust your eyes and ears when you consider prospects. The comparison I heard from an Astros announcer caught my ears. He compared Saggese to DJ Le Mahieu as a hitter. That’s bolder than anything I’ve said about Saggese. What do you think of that?
Frankly, as a hitter, Burleson looks about as ready for the MLB season as anybody on the team. And he hasn’t disappointed in LF. For now, he definitely needs to be somewhere in the lineup. Probably at 6 or 7. At least, against RHP. Anybody disagree?
March 24, 2024 at 2:10 pm in reply to: Scott and Saggese provide solid insurance this season #244841Sorry, I don’t have a crystal ball to project them as future MLB players. From what I’ve seen, they both look like legit hitters. Have you watched them in spring training? If so, what are your impressions of them?

March 24, 2024 at 1:36 pm in reply to: Scott and Saggese provide solid insurance this season #244832I believe a an Astros’ announcer said Saggese reminded him of DJ LeMahieu. That’s a high praise comp.
With both Edman and Nootbaar out it also gives Burleson a good opportunity for ABs. So far, both he and Carlson have capitalized on the opportunity. It will be interesting to see if Goldschmidt gets it going. It might not hurt for him to bat a little lower in the lineup until he doers.

March 23, 2024 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Make your BOLD predictions for the 2024 St Louis Cardinals here!! #244770Later this season, Saggese and Prieto will be as productive, offensively, as some that are on the opening day roster. And I’m not referring to Burleson.

t8ball12, on the call, the Cards radio broadcast announcer said it was Saggese who doubled. I just listened to the replay.

True. But I wish Goldschmidt was hitting like Burleson is this late in ST.
A clutch hit by Burleson in the ninth. Burly’s .372 BA is pretty impressive this late in ST.
BOCfan, that’s pretty weak. Actually, there aren’t many Cardinals hitters hitting any better than Burleson this spring.
BOCfan, please list all the current Cardinals that you consider “a sure thing”. I assume you are talking about hitting ability, currently.
wally, if that’s the case. Maybe Gorman to 1B, Saggese to 3B and Prieto to 2B. Hopefully, getting some fairly high level, controlled starting pitching for the future for Goldschmidt and Arenado.
March 22, 2024 at 6:12 pm in reply to: Make your BOLD predictions for the 2024 St Louis Cardinals here!! #244701wally, I know who he is. He’s bad news for a civil message board.
March 22, 2024 at 5:52 pm in reply to: Make your BOLD predictions for the 2024 St Louis Cardinals here!! #244697BOCfan, that’s totally uncalled for. Obviously, you don’t like Burleson and me, But give it a rest. Sheesh! I still feel you are up to no good on this relatively civil message board.
wally, so will Saggese and Prieto. It will be interesting to see how Saggese and Prieto fit into the Cardinals plans. Both seem “blocked” for the time being.
March 22, 2024 at 1:42 pm in reply to: Make your BOLD predictions for the 2024 St Louis Cardinals here!! #244673Prieto is blocked, right now, from being with the Cardinals. To say Prieto, who I don’t think has ever played in an official MLB game, is comparable to a consistent MLB hitter, Donovan, is bold. Considering Prieto is destined for considerable AAA time this season. Some posters just see things that don’t need statistical validation. If you don’t “buy it”. Ignore it.
March 22, 2024 at 12:40 pm in reply to: Make your BOLD predictions for the 2024 St Louis Cardinals here!! #244667It seems like Prieto could be comparable to Donovan as a hitter.
March 22, 2024 at 11:43 am in reply to: Make your BOLD predictions for the 2024 St Louis Cardinals here!! #244659It seems Winn might need more seasoning at AAA. Crawford’s presence may facilitate that.
If that’s truly the case with the Cardinals. It seems kind of dysfunctional.
As I have indicated. I see some nice potential in Rom. Sorry to learn of his injury.
