Well, I’m not surprised and I never thought he’d come here so I’m not disappointed. My only concern is that their plan B is always sub par and never helps. I almost wish they would do nothing and just go to Spring Training with what they have now rather than add crap. in desperation.
Brian Noonan: Hello, Brian. I think it is a question worth asking. Whether it has “beef” or not is a matter of opinion. I think it was a worthwhile gamble to sign him. But, can he pitch successfully in the U.S.? Perhaps his success in Japan was because it is sub par baseball or perhaps he’ll shine over here. We can hope so. Good luck to him.
Is it possible that he pitched well in Japan because Japanese baseball is not as good as the major leagues?
Jager:
When have they ever shot for the moon?
Junior and his juniorettes do NOT shoot for the moon.
They’re low hanging fruit and slug kind of guys.
They’ll add players from the outside but don’t hold your breath for anyone who is actually good.
Rats:
Don’t get your hopes up. I don’t want to see you too disappointed.
Stanton in St. Louis is at best a dream.
It’s not realistic to expect the Cardinals to acquire a player the caliber of Stanton.
Even if he agreed to come here, there are other teams that would give up more talent or take on all of his salary.
If they’re going low hanging fruit and second tier players then forget it.
Just chuck the season and play Carpenter at third and Martinez at first.

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
November 25, 2017 at 8:57 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #38234Cardinals2016: Well those are very clever plans you have and I would like to see them happen. They will NOT and the reason is in the first three words of the last paragraph of your post outlining the moves…Mo & Girsch.
Forsch:
I don’t antagonize anyone deliberately unless they have a thin skin. I criticize the owners for doing nothing.
They could get some of those players I proposed. Stanton, Votto and Darvish. Would it mean a high payroll? Yes but two years ago Forbes listed their profit as 70 million dollars, which means they are making a fortune every year and that is before this new TV money. They have hundred of millions of dollars sitting there waiting to be spent and plenty of prospects to use in trades. They have more than enough resources so that is not a usable excuse. It’s a question of whether the owners want to spend BIG to make the team WS worthy or count their money.
forsch: I am no more of a troll than you or anyone else.
I complain about the front office doing nothing because the front office does nothing to make the team appreciably better when clear needs are there every year.
I have said for years to get Stanton
They also need another bat Votto at first would be nice.
A quality starter from the outside…Arieta or Darvish would be nice.
A closer…Davis or someone of that type.
They need to go BIG or sell and rebuild. Band-aids and promises does not work.
I have suggested moves for years but they do nothing in perpetuity and it is frustrating for a lifelong Cardinal fan.
I don’t expect this off-season to be any different.
I hope they surprise me.
Have a nice day Forsch
You guys need to relax and LOWER your expectations way way down there. Other teams in the Cardinal’s position would go big in the off-season. They’d trade for Stanton, sign Morrison and bring in Arieta or Darvish. This Front Office does not operate that way and they are not going to suddenly start free spending or trade those top prospects. IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!! They will sign a second tier bat, like Morrison or someone else of that ilk. They’ll find a closer and maybe another bullpen pitcher and they’ll be done and go to spring training. If you are a Cardinal fan you need to get used to the way things are done. I long ago lost my angst over this organization and accept their band-aid and promises approach to the off-season and the deadline and I am at peace with the world.

A word of advice regarding MO. Do not believe ANYTHING he says. Believe what he does.
You guys are just talking yourselves into major disappointment when Stanton goes somewhere else and we sign a second tier slug to bat 3rd or 4th.
November 10, 2017 at 9:29 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #37629The more I think about it the more I like the idea of signing Zack Cozart for SS and moving DeJong to 3B. It would be easier to pull that off than orchestrating a trade for Simmons.
Wong is the second baseman and DeJong the SS so move on from that. Barring injuries they are the opening day DP combination.
Neither Mo or Girsch mean anything. It will be Junior who decides if they get Stanton. It will be Junior who decides if they even call the Marlins. It will be Junior who ultimately decides to go with a second tier slug. It will be Junior who sends Mo and/or Girsch out on a BS good will tour to explain why once again the Cardinals were unable to do anything in the off-season. Once and for all get it out of your heads that anyone but Junior makes acquisition decisions.
Rats: I hate for you to be disappointed but Stanton for the Cardinals is pie in the sky.
November 8, 2017 at 12:16 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #37492Indeed: “Have to be willing to make them.” That is the key. They never have been in the past. I should tell you that the chances of the Cardinals acquiring Stanton is remote.
November 6, 2017 at 2:30 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #37323I read Douchette’s predictions of who will get the free agents.
Nunez was the only one that we will get according to Douchette.I do think DeWitt realizes that trading for Stanton would cause a increase in fan interest and sales revenue.
It’s all about one thing for Junior: If it costs 30 million a year for Stanton and he can bring in 35 million more then he might do it. If he only brings in 25 million more then NO.Brian, I was away and just read the article. Thanks..positive additions to the staff.
Maddux is good news I just wish they would replace Mabry
Anyone: who is Eversgard?
