KeepComingBackParticipantOk I will settle this once and for all. I need a single to win the game. No other baserunning needed. I will take Burleson. Anything else, I take Contreras.
KeepComingBackParticipantCarlson knows it doesnt matter what he does. He gone.

KeepComingBackParticipantI don’t worry too much about the run differential. Baseball has always been about pitching and defense and it always will be because those two elements are less likely to go in a slump as offense.
I always loved lower scoring, well played games. That’s not winning good enough for some I guess.

KeepComingBackParticipantGood pitching, good defense, timely hitting. Seems like i heard thats the recipe for winning.
KeepComingBackParticipantI missed the middle innings. Next time we get down by 5 i will help you guys out and go do something else.
KeepComingBackParticipantTwo pathetic at bats by Goldy and Arenado. Off with their heads. Or move them to the bottom of the order.

KeepComingBackParticipantDom you keep it real buddy!
KeepComingBackParticipantHopefully you just put the reverse jinx on Goldy Bling. I think Carlson is going to bust out all over the place if they play him all 4 games as they should. IMO Oli has this lineup right for tonight. Just turn it in 3 more times after tonight. Thats 5, right?😄😄😄
KeepComingBackParticipantI really am good at math. Guess i bobbled that. I want to win 3/4. I was thinking the same thing about how we used to put a beating on lefties. Really i was.

KeepComingBackParticipantAgree with JJ on the use of GG.
KeepComingBackParticipantIt would be nice to leave Washington 5 games over 500. I suggest DH Contreras and play Pedro and Carlson each day. And maybe nicely ask Goldy and Arenado to get some hits with men on base.

KeepComingBackParticipantI too thank those that do the actual footwork to illustrate their point. I’m always willing to change my views if there’s information that proves me wrong. However, I’m frequently either too busy or too lazy to actually do that research. I don’t need research to point out that starting pitchers are worth more than relief pitchers. And I know that Liberatore is only 24 years old. They aren’t going to give up on him as a starter, nor should they. I think they continue to use him like they have for
The rest of 2024, than try to stretch him out ad a starter in 2025.
KeepComingBackParticipantI like Burly a lot as a hitter. That’s his one and only baseball skill that is above average. I think he’s a character and I like that a lot. But Shady, you need to find more astute friends if they think Burleson is the team mvp
KeepComingBackParticipantShort answer Bling-more. He’s only 24 yrs old. He leads the team in homeruns and is 1 off the lead in rbi. I’m truly sorry his other metrics aren’t better. If you want to remove players with below average ops, as you say, than you need to get rid of all of them besides Winn Donny Burly and Contreras.
KeepComingBackParticipantGscott-It almost reaches the point where this discussion belongs in the what’s it going to take to fix the Cardinals thread. I’m not stubborn about this player. He may not be a fit for this lineup. But I would like to see this lineup fixed before we move on from him.
KeepComingBackParticipantYou are right Shady. Performance by both has been sorely needed.
KeepComingBackParticipantDom-Donovan just forgot about the guy on second. Dumb rule anyway. I hate this extra inning mess.
KeepComingBackParticipantMy understanding is that Helsley was unavailable.
KeepComingBackParticipantNow that they won, I suspect Donny will be the subject of a lot of loud comedic discussion.
KeepComingBackParticipantStruggling to score runs against the Pirates makes me sleepy.

KeepComingBackParticipantHome just un time from a 2hr bike ride. Go Cardinals
KeepComingBackParticipant‘^^^^^
Your 2 cents are worth more like a dollar. We can’t give up on him yet. His downside is magnified by the performance and injuries of the current roster.
KeepComingBackParticipant^^^^^^^^^^^
I agree with Brian.
KeepComingBackParticipantSo where else should I be pointing it? Your stats are not applicable. Contreras Noot and Herrera are 3 of your 6 guys with an ops+ over 100. They have all been on the IL for extensive lengths or Herrera whose defense is so sub standard we have to play Pages. So you like Carp and fat Crawford at dh? We are 26 out of 30 in runs scored. I pointed out Goldy and Arenado suck. An Ops+ of 150 is great. Contreras will not maintain that number and he was hurt Guaranteed. 125 is above average. 100 is average. So Burleson, Winn, and Donovan are the only guys who have actually played for extended periods who have an average ops plus or better.
Thanks for making my point for me Bling. In order to carry a player like Gorman, you have to have a way better lineup than what we have been throwing out there.
KeepComingBackParticipantIt boils down to this. Do we really want a player like Gorman? He’s always going to strike out a lot. He’s always going to hit a lot of homeruns. He’s always going to have a low obp and batting average. He is always going to have plenty of rbi’s. Unfortunately, the failure of Goldy and Arenado to produce magnify the downside of this type of player. I’m not ever expecting him to be our middle of the order guy. But I’m not bailing on him yet either. We need to clean up the rest of the lineup around him. Otherwise, we need to move on to a player with the opposite skill set.
