Taking a gander at the wet Tuesday night out-of-town scoreboard:

The Reds, after a rain delay, lead the Rockies. 7-4 Cincinnati in the 6th at Crosley Field.

The Pirates are all over the Brewers. 8-2 Pittsburgh in the 6th at County Stadium.

And the Cubs win big over the Orioles. 9-2 Cubs over Baltimore at Memorial Stadium.

Me and Whitey Herdog are going to finish watching the Rockies/Reds game then tune in to the Braves and DBacks from the BOB in Arizona.

p.s. if the Pirates hold on we will only be four games out.

Yeah, I just noticed the Pirates/Brewers score. Unless the Bucs really drop their watch, it could be a productive day despite the washout.

3 back in loss column to the Brewers…a little under the radar they are 5 games back in the loss column for 2nd best record in the NL behind the Dodgers….all while still having the 2nd worst offense in the NL in runs scored.

    Out-of-town late Tuesday scoreboard update:

The Reds throttle Colorado. 12-6 the final at Crosley Field.

The Pirates also throttle the Brewers. 12-2 the final at County Stadium in Milwaukee. Redbirds now only four games out. As a side note, the Republican National Convention starts next Monday in Milwaukee. It’s not at County Stadium though..:)

The Giants scored twice with two outs in the last of the 9th and win over Toronto 4-3. A grounder up the middle off the 2ndbaseman’s glove into short CF tied the game with two outs. Then the winning run scored on a wild pitch.

Time to watch Dragnet and Joe Friday…..

Time to watch Dragnet and Joe Friday…..

No out-of-town scoreboard is complete without giving us the scoop on how your Dragnet episode turned out, Rat. And speaking of Rat, it’s Wednesday, so we all know where he’s heading for din-din today…….the famed Amish restaurant “The Gastof”, where Rat keeps his eye on his hot waitress more than his feast fit for a king. My din-din tonight won’t be as glamorous. How does breakfast for din-din grab you? 3 poached eggs(salt and peppered) drenched in butter over 2 slices of white toast, 8 all beef sausage links cooked in butter, hash browns and coffee with a dab of milk mingled in.

We’ve scored 100 runs in the last 20 games. Keep it rolling lineup.

We could use a Pallante start like his last one. Not expecting it, but hopefully the offense can score 5 or 6.

Marsh has allowed a .638 vs LH batters and .867 vs righties. He’s the KC version of Pallante (.515 vs L, .933 vs R). Reverse splits.

Man, Goldy takes a 3-2 pitch center cut, up in the zone. The same pitch he drove out in Washington. I can’t see how you don’t jump all over a pitch like that??

I thought Fermin played for us?

You know, so far Pallante has been a pretty fair starting pitcher…..knock on wood……and let’s knock one out of the park here in the bottom of the 2nd in a scoreless ballgame.

“I thought Fermin played for us?”

Their Fermin reminds me some of another “Freddie” that played for the Royals – Freddie Patek.

Gorman swings at a pitch a good 6 inches off the zone outside. Gotta recognize that and stay off it.

Tinkers to Evers to Chance had nothing over Patek to Rojas to Mayberry, BicycleMike.

Pallante sets them down in one neat little 1-2-3 chorus line in the 3rd. Would love to get 6-7 frames out of Pallante today.

Yep, that was a good infield they had. Big John Mayberry was sort of a Willie McCovey-light.

Okay, gonna head to the reservoir and do a little paddle boarding. Will miss the rest of this one, or maybe will get back for the last inning or two. Too nice out to sit in front of the tube, even though it is a Cardinal game. And, there is another one tonight. LIG! 😁

No offense to Mr. Matz, but I really don’t want him back when he’s scheduled to come off the shelf in August.

The Royals had some nice players in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

    George Brett
    Freddy Patek
    UL Washington
    Frank White
    John Mayberry
    Darrell Porter
    Amos Otis
    Willie Wilson
    Dennis Leonard
    Dan Quisenberry

And of course the White Rat.

Watch out for Bull sharks while out paddleboarding, BicycleMike…….we’d hate to lose you…….especially like that.

Nice list, Scotty……sure brings back memories. That Quisenberry sure had a whacky delivery. Too bad he passed away…..I think brain tumor.

Freddy was the Royals first shortstop. Former Cardinal Cookie Rojas was on that team as well. I lived in Independence, home of Harry S. Truman at that time. I saw them all at old municiple stadium on Brooklyn Ave frequently. There was no parking and the locals turned their front yards into parking spots to make xtra $. Those were the days.
