If there is too much money placed on one side, the oddsmaker shifts the line so the bets return to balance. As they say, “The house always wins.”
Congratulations to C Rainiel Rodriguez (AA) on being named Texas League Player of the Week!
The #STLCards No. 1 prospect slashed .526/.571/1.105 across five games, leading the league in slugging and OPS, while guiding Springfield to a 5-1 record.

I understand, ATM. I am not condoning placing bets and I don’t do it personally. I share betting lines for only one reason. To me, that the oddsmakers believe that there is roughly equal financial support of a view that MLB may play 99 or 100 games next season, for example, is interesting to me and more credible than if I said it off the cuff with nothing but opinion backing it up.
Take a break from refreshing your screen for trade news and check out our new interview with #stlcards OF prospect Ian Petrutz, conducted by our Peoria reporter @steffen_white. Enjoy! https://t.co/xUyRhpSfWh pic.twitter.com/STJm1sINjc

Wow. What a way for it to unfold for this young man. Lives are changed in trades.

The Brewers are pursuing Clay Holmes according to a source. The Mets are expected to deal him by 6pm ET. @Joelsherman1 first mentioned Milwaukee's interest.

Looks like a lot of competition for May.
Clay Holmes, Robbie Ray, Brady Singer, maybe Mize the primary SP rentals still on the board, with the Brewers, Phillies, Braves, Red Sox among possible buyers. It's a buyers' market with the SP.

Phillies add an oft-traded former batting champion.
Phillies are trading for three-time batting champion Luis Arraez of the San Francisco Giants and right-reliever Kaleb Kilian. The Giants will receive starter Ramon Marquez, the Phillies’ No. 4 prospect and reliever Marty Gair. https://t.co/iPGhXIEUgm

The sluggish offense limited the #stlcards to a second straight 2-5 week. As the trade deadline looms, Dustin May pitched a gem in what may be his final outing with the team. Our history feature recounts recent deadline trades by the Cardinals. https://t.co/uM7GZcMDm8 pic.twitter.com/m5zHszziVd

The #stlcards system was 2-2 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield’s Rainiel Rodriguez, singled, doubled and homered for three RBI. Other standouts: Tre Richardson III, Jesús Báez, Won-Bin Cho, Patrick Galle, Trey Pooser and Trevor Haskins.… pic.twitter.com/VMoqmksD8A

Cubs get stronger.
The Cubs are acquiring RHP Kevin Gausman from the Blue Jays for INF Ty Southisene (Cubs No. 13 prospect per @MLBPipeline) and OF Brett Bateman (Cubs No. 21), per source. @Ken_Rosenthal and @MitchBannon were on it.

It is not guaranteed when the player violates terms of the contract. The Giants have already said they will not pay the remainder of his salary.
At some point, not yet, they may prefer to use his 40-man spot on someone else.
The American Journal of Sports Medicine reported an overall return-to-same-level rate of 79% for professional pitchers who had TOS. So Clarke would not be amazing.

I feel Stock’s case was amazing because of his journeyman status and his advanced age. Those factors were already against him even before TOS.
Buddy Kennedy was DFAed again, this time by Seattle. The Giants, where he started the season, claimed him.
In an amazing story, 36-year-old Robert Stock made it back from Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and started today for the Mets.

Agree, ATM. The Dodgers know how to operate within today’s rules. It is only uncertainty after that. Even Boras might agree with the “act now” approach. The odds that the next system will be more advantageous for the high-spending teams seem low.
This is very detailed and rational rebuttal to Ken Rosenthal. The author is Tim Williams, who has run Pirates Prospects at least as long as I have been here.
The framing of MLB's economics from national media is a problem.
"Anti-Dodger hysteria" is a choice.
