Your new first baseman, Ivan Herrera!
Heard this today:
Cardinals 1B/OF Alec Burleson is one of the most popular controllable bats on the trade market. @MLBNetwork

August 3, 2026 at 10:47 am #315021Bloom is certainly leaving things until the last second. Hopefully with certain names off the board he can maximize the returns he gets.
August 3, 2026 at 10:48 am #315022Looks like a lot of competition for May.
Clay Holmes, Robbie Ray, Brady Singer, maybe Mize the primary SP rentals still on the board, with the Brewers, Phillies, Braves, Red Sox among possible buyers. It's a buyers' market with the SP.

August 3, 2026 at 10:49 am #315023The Brewers are pursuing Clay Holmes according to a source. The Mets are expected to deal him by 6pm ET. @Joelsherman1 first mentioned Milwaukee's interest.

August 3, 2026 at 12:08 pm #315026Wow. What a way for it to unfold for this young man. Lives are changed in trades.

August 3, 2026 at 1:18 pm #315042Bloom must be holding out for top dollar.
August 3, 2026 at 1:34 pm #315049Robbie Ray to the Padres.
Giants are really selling off.
August 3, 2026 at 1:50 pm #315050Padres are looking for a lefty bat. Burleson and Nootbar from Cards are among many potential targets

August 3, 2026 at 2:00 pm #315053If it comes down between Burleson or Nootbaar I sure hope and pray it’s Nudie Bar that leaves and not Burleson.
August 3, 2026 at 2:10 pm #315056At this rate, our big trade will be Ryne Stanek for cash considerations.
August 3, 2026 at 2:11 pm #315057Plus a bag of used batting practice balls.
August 3, 2026 at 2:15 pm #315059Mets in agreement with the Pirates on a deal for Luke Weaver, according to a person familiar with the talks.

August 3, 2026 at 2:19 pm #315060The former Cardinal Weaver has fashioned himself a pretty good career.
August 3, 2026 at 2:19 pm #315061Rosenthal reporting Dustin May and JoJo Romero to the Brewers.
What the heck? Why are we trading with the Brewers?
August 3, 2026 at 2:20 pm #315062Here it is. Wow! The Cubs and Brewers are in a real arms race.
Brewers acquiring RHP Dustin May and LH reliever Jo Jo Romero from Cardinals, source tells me and @WillSammon

August 3, 2026 at 2:23 pm #315063Who says you can’t trade within your division?
I applaud Bloom for sticking it to the Cubs by helping the Crew. Ha!
August 3, 2026 at 2:24 pm #315064Marilyn asked:
Why are we trading with the Brewers?
It would be nice if the Cards and Brewers were equals, but they are not. By the time the Cards are competitive with the Brewers, both May and Romero will be ex-Brewers. Maybe one or more of the prospects the Cards will receive becomes a true difference-maker.
It’s not like either couldn’t trade with another team – and they probably would. I am ok with it (not having seen what StL gets in return). The Brewers have a good farm system so I am hopeful the take is beneficial to the Cardinals.
August 3, 2026 at 2:29 pm #315067I despise both the Cubs and the Brewers equally, so one or the other is just as bad.
It is not that it’s within the Division, I don’t mind trading with the Pirates or the Reds. I do not want to help the Brewers in any way at all. Ever.
August 3, 2026 at 2:30 pm #315068Brian I agree but this still makes me feel the need to go take a shower, lol.
August 3, 2026 at 2:32 pm #315069Speaking of the Cubs.
The Chicago Cubs are acquiring left-hander Braxton Garrett in a trade with the Miami Marlins, sources tell ESPN.
— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) August 3, 2026
Sources tell me that Angels starter Reid Detmers has NOT been traded to the Cubs despite a report to the contrary.
— Mark Feinsand (@Feinsand) August 3, 2026
August 3, 2026 at 2:34 pm #315070Curious what others think. I don’t consider the Brewers equal to the Cubs in dislike level. I respect what the Brewers have accomplished and how they’ve done it.
August 3, 2026 at 2:35 pm #315071I don’t see how it is physically possible to detest a team as much as the Cubs.
As Brian said, the player or players we get back in return will be here a lot longer than May or Jo Jo will be in Milwaukee. If May and Jo Jo help the Crew fend off the Cubs for the NLC title that is fine with me since we know we aren’t winning it anyway.
August 3, 2026 at 2:38 pm #315072Everyone is different. I have my reasons.
