Tough news for Dobbins. I hope he can make it back before the end of next season.
I wonder if the Cardinals will give Graceffo a shot at the rotation next year like they did with Leahy this year.
Ixan Henderson set himself back a whole year by resisting surgery.
As did Hjerpe, IMO. Although someone, Brian maybe, pointed out we don’t know what is the player’s decision or the organization’s, but the player cannot be compelled to have surgery.

Brian, the Roster Matrix is showing that Anthony Watts is on the Palm Beach IL, but MiLB is showing him back at FCL. Did they miss a transaction?
As a recall, they moved him to the FCL, then a day or two later, they reversed the move and put him on the PB IL. That was on 8/10. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that they realized that he is injured and they can’t demote an injured player. Players are paid differently by level.
Rincon is back in Memphis. I am not overly familiar with him. How much should we excuse the meltdowns? I am guessing we will see him again this season.

08/23/26 – RHP Anthony Watts assigned to FCL Cardinals from Palm Beach Cardinals.They don’t show him going back on the IL, but I know they have missed transactions before!
Bling – The thing about Rincon is that he has almost always melted down and been terrible for the first month or two at every new level along his entire journey. Then he adapts and gets better and finds a way to remake himself. That’s both why I’ve always liked him and why almost no one else ever considered him a prospect until last season. The meltdowns are epic and drastically affect his season ERA.
For now, I would consider him as just a bullpen filler guy who may not make the team next year. But I wouldn’t put it past him to learn to adapt and overcome and eventually find his way near the back end of a bullpen someday.
LHP Brandon Clarke has been transferred from Peoria (A+) to Springfield (AA).
RHP Nate Dohm has been transferred from Peoria to Springfield and placed on the Development List.

Makes sense on the Clarke promotion so he can get some innings under his belt. I assume the promiis more about that than performance but his performance at A+ wasn’t bad
What’s up with this move? Can Springfield only carry a smaller number of players into the playoffs?

09/14/26 – Springfield Cardinals transferred RHP Nate Dohm to the Development List.Wednesday’s moves:
Activated rookie 2B/SS JJ Wetherholt from the 10-Day Injured List … Wetherholt missed 15 games since Aug. 30 with right wrist tendinitis.
Designated 2B/3B Ramón Urías for assignment.
Reinstated RHP Peter Strzelecki from the 15-Day Injured List and designated him for assignment.
I like this move. It allows more at bats for Fermin and Saggese by letting Urias go. And, no reason to let Strzlecki pitch over our rookies at this point with nothing else to play for this season.
I like that the roster is now what it very well could be come Spring Training (whenever that occurs). There are no more obvious free agents or roster cuts. 38 players plus Rajcic on the 60 day IL.
Even so,there are still some potential cuts/trades:
Bruihl
Stanek
Prieto
Pereira
Fernandez
Gorman
Fermin
One of the catchers not named BernalHowever, all of them could be back. We will see.
Bruihl has been getting better as he gets more work.
Stanek has been reliable and still throws upper 90’s.
Fernandez will likely be back for another look in 2027.
All of the rest could be back, or be cut.
I think it’s best to let Stanek walk. He gets more expensive if we keep him for 2027. Rincon and Santana will be ready next year. Plus, I’d look for Stanek like signing, or trade for a good reliever. I really don’t kmow which Svanson shows up, the ‘25 version or this years debacle. I’d also look at Clemente, if he can improve his control.
That is correct bling. I can’t imagine the Cards would do that. They can find a vet reliver better than him who would cost less.
#STLCards manager Oli Marmol revealed that third baseman Blaze Jordan won’t play again in ‘26 because of the high ankle sprain he suffered on Aug. 27. Jordan, who has been working through the rehab to return, will be shut down because of the severity of the injury he suffered.
