You think with Wacha involved in a trade that a starter is coming back to us from Miami, another trade is coming for another starter from somewhere or we really are going to roll out with a Rotation of Martinez, Waever, Wainwright, Flaherty-Gant and “insert innings eater here”.
They do still have to fix the pen too and if Stanton is coming they no doubt have to deal Piscotty and free up some cash to make another move.
You know this reeks of this team wanting to get him out of NL so they would be haunted if he bounces back. Which is won’t if he can’t change his plate approach. Lord knows you can’t trade another player to San Diego and get to choose from that rich farm system.
The 40 man spot was a given if the intent was dealing him. I’m not saying that this bozo we traded for can’t turn it around but it appears to be a move to clear a roster spot but more like we didn’t want him in the same league and we can pinch some pennies in the process.

I would take Prado btw! Wanted him last year and he can play multiple positions and is a clubhouse guy this team needs. IMO they could flip Gyorko or Carpenter for a starter.

Any news on whom the bench coach will be? It appears that all the focus will be on the Pitching Coach. Any chance it’ll be an outside hire or you think it’ll be someone that Matheny is comfortable with?
Maybe they’ll consider Mabry for bench coach and hire a new hitting coach.
Wade Davis better be ready to go 2-3 innings. I don’t know the rest of the bullpens ERA but it has to be high 9’s.

I feel if anything is done in addition to Stanton we’ll have to deal either Gyorko, Wong or Piscotty to make it work. I think Stanton, Nicasio and Hirano is about the limit.
Alcantara is from what I’ve seen in limited work is extremely raw and needs another season in the minors.
Rosey isn’t getting a deal injured unless it’s discounted.
If I’m bowtie and am looking to double up I’d look at Nicasio and the guy from Japan on a 2 year deal.

Id rather have Nicasio, The japenese guy, a stop gap starter on a 1-2 year deal and get Stanton.
I’ll die laughing if the miss on Stanton and bowties big move is Holland. He’d have to almost get someone like Jay Bruce then. Which would be mixed reviews.
