Well he did last 3 innings.
A lot of people are beginning to call this Kip Wells 2.0 with an extra year on his deal. Didn’t some scribe somewhere call him rotation insurance more than a rotation piece?
If this guy is going to be a starter on this roster. He’s got to start pitching better because the cardinal nation bullseye is all over management investment into the rotation. He’s showing some of the same issues that some of the starters had the past couple seasons. Early inning trouble giving up runs.
I don’t think it means much who starts games until next week…
But Bud Norris shouldn’t be considered a starter at all at any point in his stay here in STL.
There was almost 2,000 upper deck tickets available for opening day as of Monday.
I don’t think it’s the fans being turned off as much as the prices. When I bought opening day tickets after a world series championship in 2011. Section 328 was $65.75 a ticket against the cubs and that was a pre sale with 2 other games to buy. I mean $50 for standing room and $99.00 for the worst upper deck ticket in 400 section seems like a money grab.
Also I’ve noticed they’ve already advertised $6 tickets inside the stadium and $5 ones in the Bud Deck outside. They’ve basically moved the eye sore outside the stadium. You can get in the park for $11 a lot in April and May during the week.

I know it’s the 1st games of spring but not the start you we’re looking for from a guy expected to stabilize the rotation.
I wouldn’t take Span in that deal unless they pay down almost all that deal and we can just dump him off. Take it or leave it!
You’re getting an All-Star Caliber closer and starter. Your going to have to give something up to make it happen. I do think Flaherty is too much to ask at the top and lol at Wisdom.
John Tudor had 10 shutouts in 1985. He had 7 the rest of his career. So maybe you’d be onto something.
Personally I like a little change in the rotation as long as it’s a decent one but those appear to be few and far between. Let your pen handle it!

With about 100 FA without jobs we can talk about where we think teams are but we really won’t know for a couple weeks.
Milwuakee just signed Wade Miley. Maybe not a earth shattering signing but a return to the NL might help him. He might be in a good spot at the back end of the rotation. I think he’s better than Gallardo.
They’re giving away 5 days worth of ST games maybe?

I think we need to cool the expectations on Reyes a bit. He may not be starter ready off top even for Memphis.
Well what’s said is said and what’s done is done. Norris is coming and only his performance will decide if he’s here past July.

Do you know when MLBTV activates everyone’s accounts for the season? I think it’s near the end of February but not sure.
My theory is when you need a lot of things to go your way or “ifs” then you could be in for a long season or a huge letdown. I’d rather be confident rolling into the season with the team we’ve got then praying all those things happen. Right now we’re hunting for a wild card.
And I do agree that we’ve got to play better against the Cubs. 5-14 is dog ?.
I personally think 13 has to be almost a given with the way Matheny burns out bullpens. We should for sure carry 13 guys in April. I don’t care about the extra days off. The starters don’t throw 6 innings until later in the spring ans who knows what this rotation is going to look like. We very well may have to quick hook some guys early due to pitch counts and performance. I’d much rather steal a couple games in April cause god knows we need all the help we can get.
I don’t see it as a big of a problem as others. Trust me we’ve got more way to lose games than worrying about an extra arm in the pen. We’ve already got Fowler in RF, Carpenter hitting 3rd and the manager in the dugout to worry about.
Weren’t they last year Pads? I’d say of the 2 the Rockies are the least stable to repeat their performance from last year. Pitching in Colorado is never a stable thing.
Milwaukee is set up to be better with the addition of a starter and the additions of Cain, Yelich and Chacin. I don’t think they can take out the Cubs but it’ll be closer than the Cubs and their fans would like. May come down to the last weekend of the season
You could be right with the Giants improving, AZ taking a step back but still respectable and San Diego slowly improving. Wins might be a little harder to come by in the NL West this season.
$3 million for this guy! Is this why everyone is holding out to sign people? So guys the Caliber of Norris can get 3 million bucks! He didnt make that much last season.
Oh he could stink to high heaven and we could have no issues in our bullpen and rotation and he’s going north for sure over someone like Brebbia or Gant or Lucas.
And I dont care what he says. No way he starts for us. There woukd have to be an collapse of epic perportions in our rotation coming out of ST for that to happen and even then there a Lyons is a better option to start than Norris at this juncture of each guys career. Plus there’s a chance a guy like Nolasco or some other bum coukd be out of work and looking for a gig.

Seems to me that were looking at this all wrong. I think we need to look at from a NL perspective than a division one.

9. GiantsI expect Arizona to take a step back, the Giants to be about .500 and the Mets to be better then last season. Rockies have talent but it all falls on the pitching. I would say 6-9 are interchangable. This is IMO before Milwaukee signs a starter or anything else happens. 100 or so FA out there.
