Here’s a first…. Rat not seeking a weather forecast for tomorrow’s game. Hope you’re feeling ok, Rat?? Someone must have finally told Rat where to find The Weather Channel on his tv.
Like I was saying earlier this week, you’d have to be borderline cRaZy to not believe we were going to sweep these guys again this weekend. These Redlegs are so horrific that I think they need to add a new column to the standings. Of course we already have the columns for “W”(Wins), “L”(Loss), “GB” (Games Behind) and “GBW” (Games Behind Wildcard). Why not for 2018 have a “GRR” for (Games Remaining with Reds)? Since any team can basically count a “GRR” as a win, it really gives we fans a glimpse into how things are going to shape up in the divisional and wild card races….especially in the NL Central, where it’s teams are the fortunate recipients of many “GRR”s. Now Cincinnati fans can fear not as this “GRR” column may just be a one year thing. Next year during the month of April if the Reds look as if they are serious contenders to win 40+ games, then the “GRR” column can certainly be removed.
Bullish on our Birds, but feel compelled to call this game as I see it. This simply is a game that we cannot under any circumstances win. I like nothing better than sitting down on Sunday afternoons and catching our Cards in action. Tomorrow (Sunday) I’m hitting the fairways.
Nice to see our Chiefs lay a whooping on Wisconsin this evening in front of just shy of 1900 Dosier faithfuls. 7-1 your happy final, as both Elehuris “Elvis” Montero and Bryce “Bam Bam” Denton left the yard…..”Bam Bam’s” with the bases juiced. Evan Guillory and Zach Prendergast were simply marvelous on the hill for the home team. Guillory turned in a sparkling 6 innings of labor, yielding a run on 5 hits, while striking out 6 and issuing no free passes. And Prendergast was the epitomy of perfection in his 3 frames, surrending no base runners and whiffing 5.
I’ll be “Greatful” if the Reds play “Dead” for a second consecutive weekend, Booyah. But unfortunately, they will clip us once. And to Logan’s big Bro…..happy 41st big guy!!
Terrible timing for this! Well, there goes our sweep this weekend…..right on down the drain. I think we still take Cindy 2-3, but no way we sweep. I don’t think a manager of a MLB team had EVER lost his first 3 games, when hired after the season began. Think about it….. I don’t think it’s ever occurred. Emotions ( whether good or bad) and adrenaline run high with managerial mid-season changes. And when those two things merge, increased athletic performance is a certainty. The only difficult aspect to predict is how long the improved play will last. Well last week at this time if someone had told me we’d take the Reds six out of the next seven games, I would have jumped with joy…..7-7 would have been mighty sweet though.

April 19, 2018 at 2:36 pm in reply to: 2018 Reg Seas Game #18 – at Cubs – Wed 4/18 now Thu 4/19 #49455I’m certain of 3 things today. No hitter in Wrigley will eclipse the center field wall, Lester will not go further than 7 frames and for the first time in about a week, it will not snow in Madison, Wisconsin.
April 19, 2018 at 2:24 pm in reply to: 2018 Reg Seas Game #18 – at Cubs – Wed 4/18 now Thu 4/19 #49454If the scrubs recently came back from a 10-2 deficit in the 8th inning, our Birds can certainly make minced meat out of Lester & company, down only 6-1 after 3.
April 19, 2018 at 2:07 pm in reply to: 2018 Reg Seas Game #18 – at Cubs – Wed 4/18 now Thu 4/19 #49447The wind cost Bryant a 3-run tater to center….4-1 cubs on the sac fly with Baez doing what more fleet footed players should do….taking 2nd on long fly balls. 5-1 and Weaving is not weaving much magic on the hill today. Now he konks Contreras.
April 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm in reply to: 2018 Reg Seas Game #18 – at Cubs – Wed 4/18 now Thu 4/19 #494403-1 cubs now on a broken bat Almora base knock to right. 1 out here in the bottom of the 2nd. Weaver has uncharacteristically yielded 6 hits already.

April 19, 2018 at 1:55 pm in reply to: 2018 Reg Seas Game #18 – at Cubs – Wed 4/18 now Thu 4/19 #49438Eye piercing gone array, Brian. These kids these days will pierce anything in sight. My neighbors daughter tried to pierce her Bassett Hounds lip… thank God Dad put his foot down.
April 19, 2018 at 1:41 pm in reply to: 2018 Reg Seas Game #18 – at Cubs – Wed 4/18 now Thu 4/19 #49435I bet that Weaver hasn’t given up 3 consecutive hits since Little League action.
April 19, 2018 at 1:30 pm in reply to: 2018 Reg Seas Game #18 – at Cubs – Wed 4/18 now Thu 4/19 #49430Bader scores on the Lester WP with 2 outs! We deserved that considering both Fowler and Carpenter absolutely blistered balls on a line, but saw their batting averages dip. 1-0 Good Guys heading to the bottom of the 1st.
April 19, 2018 at 1:25 pm in reply to: 2018 Reg Seas Game #18 – at Cubs – Wed 4/18 now Thu 4/19 #49428Good throw might have nailed Bader at 2nd……now he stands at 3rd with 1 out….a scorching liner to left by Fowler that Schwarber luckily nabbed.
I’m with GScott from the great State of Arkansas! You never get off a winning horse. And last night we witnessed Secretariat and Sea Biscuit doing what they do best.
April 18, 2018 at 3:29 pm in reply to: 2018 Reg Seas Game #18 – at Cubs – Wed 4/18 now Thu 4/19 #49350One more mlb cancellation and it sets the record for most washouts in the month of April. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that it will indeed occur….probably by tomorrow. I think this is rainout #5 for the cubs. Pretty sweet seeing all of these twin bills that will be looming for those guys. I think our staff is better suited for handling these stressful situations than the cubbies staff. Should bode well for us. Regardless, the cubs weren’t going to be seeing any playoff action this year anyway.
A move that had to be made. If O’Neill doesn’t get the call north with the way he’s been mashing, it would be pretty darn discouraging for the young farmhands. I have a really good hunch that O’Neill is going to continue his torrid hitting with the big club. I’d give my left……..my left pinkie if O’Neill could play 2nd.
Five consecutive wins on the road is certainly nothing to sneeze at!
( we shouldn’t mention that 4 of them were against the Reds )
Game off! 5-3 your joyous final!
In Bud Norris We Trust. Think it’s too late to get him on the 2019 $1 bill? Oh oh….base knock now with Schwarber representing the tying run at the dish.
Just think what Nolan Ryan could have done pitching against our boys, Colhusker. 23….maybe 24 K’s?
Thinking out loud here on that foul ball into Bartman Land….I bet he likes cold games such as this so he can hide under about 5 layers of clothes….bet on a night like this he’s a total foul ball hog.
