The wind cost Bryant a 3-run tater to center….4-1 cubs on the sac fly with Baez doing what more fleet footed players should do….taking 2nd on long fly balls. 5-1 and Weaving is not weaving much magic on the hill today. Now he konks Contreras.April 19, 2018 at 2:08 pm #49448
6-1April 19, 2018 at 2:10 pm #49449
Hopefully, NJ315. This game is probably out of reach so I would prefer to sacrifice some Weaver ERA to save the bullpen for the weekend. Could be a start where he gives up 10-12 runs in 4-5 innings, for all that it matters.April 19, 2018 at 2:11 pm #49450
The answer is yes and I hope not.April 19, 2018 at 2:12 pm #49451GACardParticipantFree
Maybe we’ll see some Tyler O’Neill today at leastApril 19, 2018 at 2:13 pm #49452bicyclemikeModeratorPaid - Annual
We need a reliever that can go three or four in this one. Can’t so the 1 or 2 innings bit, or play match up.Still early – gotta chip away and not give up any more.April 19, 2018 at 2:18 pm #49453
Nice AB there by Bader even if it ended in an our, Made Lester workApril 19, 2018 at 2:24 pm #49454
If the scrubs recently came back from a 10-2 deficit in the 8th inning, our Birds can certainly make minced meat out of Lester & company, down only 6-1 after 3.April 19, 2018 at 2:36 pm #49455
I’m certain of 3 things today. No hitter in Wrigley will eclipse the center field wall, Lester will not go further than 7 frames and for the first time in about a week, it will not snow in Madison, Wisconsin.April 19, 2018 at 2:41 pm #49456
Martinez looked like Keith Hernandez on that errant throw to 1st. Oqie working his magic?April 19, 2018 at 2:51 pm #49458
O’Neil’s first AB – strike out and ehh looks bad doing itApril 19, 2018 at 2:51 pm #49459
O’Neill with his first AB…strikes out on a low curve from Lester.
At least the no-no was broken up.April 19, 2018 at 2:54 pm #49462BlackHillsCardParticipantFree
I just turned on the game and immediately turned it off. Needless to say the arm angle narrative the Cards were pushing didn not pan out for Weaver.April 19, 2018 at 3:02 pm #49465
Hey Heyward with a 2-run smoker to right and the Bad Guys now lead the Good Guys 8-1.April 19, 2018 at 3:02 pm #49466
About that “no ball is leaving over the CF wall today” prediction, Pugs….
OK, I guess Heyward’s blast was officially to right. Never mind – for now.April 19, 2018 at 3:11 pm #49468RatsbuddyParticipantFree

So does that mean Ozuna looked twice as bad since he struck out twice?April 19, 2018 at 3:32 pm #49470
Is Bowman really one of this club’s 7 best relievers at this point? Feels like Brebbia and Mayers have to be better.April 19, 2018 at 3:32 pm #49471
8-1 Lester out. We can get them we have time.April 19, 2018 at 3:44 pm #49474
Bases loaded and nobody out, Paulie D walks to score a run. Now would be a great time for Kolten to break out of the slump.April 19, 2018 at 3:44 pm #49475
Nice work by Gregerson, getting out of Bowman’s jam with a GIDP.
Tough at-bat by DeJong to draw a bases-loaded walk. His fourth free pass of the season.April 19, 2018 at 3:58 pm #49477
Cards pull to within 8-5 in middle of the 7th.
An observation from today’s game. Something about the Cards seems to bring out the worst in Baez’ defense. If the runner had advanced on his bad throw to third in the first inning, he would have three errors today.
Javier Baez' last game with two errors was also against #stlcards – in their second head-to-head matchup on 2017. He only has three such games in his career.

Good job by Gregerson and Holland. Let’s go get them!April 19, 2018 at 4:02 pm #49479
Holland touches 94 mph in a scoreless seventh. Slider looked really good with late break.April 19, 2018 at 4:07 pm #49480
