I still think Jose can blossom into an adequate 1st baseman. I know Oqie & Co. are working extensively with him on his D. But obviously he needs more practice at the position. Tell you what I would do…..I would make some adjustments to a couple pitching machines and turn them into fielding machines for Jose. I’d place one around where SS is and have it fire all sorts of throws to 1st. Low throws, high throws, wide throws, soft throws, hard throws, throws with a little English on them….you name it. And another at home plate that flung out a wide variety of hot grounders and line drives in Jose’s direction. An hour a day working with Oqie on his fielding and throws and two hours a day with the fielding machines until he gets it right.

Unbelievable. It’s not his fault in the least, but I’ll never get all jacked up about his return ever again. He’s totally Eliot Ness…..that’s “untouchable” for those of you living in Rio Linda….. in his 3 rehab starts and then sustains a major injury just a few innings into his much awaited start with the big club. What are the odds. First and foremost, I feel terrible for Alex. All of that excruciating work and then this. And how about the organization? Their top prospect down for the count yet once again. This injury most likely results in an abrupt end to any possibility that our Cards had of obtaining Machado too…..so this injury doubly sucks!

Proper calibration and care of that radar gun yesterday and Reyes stays in longer and maybe we win that game. Could end up costing our Birds the title. All in one decade…..the Rally Squirrel giving us a pennant and a radar gun taking one away. Like they say, all things do even out in the end….but gosh darn it the radar gun ordeal was preventable while the Rally Squirrel was destiny.

If the darn radar gun was off, it’s too bad it wasn’t really off and registered Reyes’ fastball at 42mph….. but then MM probably has the team doc race out there with a stretcher. What great news though!! I thought for sure his shoulder was screwed up. Let us all have a toast this evening to the baseball Gods for Alex’s continued good health.

I’ve heard of guys being “taken out” by a gun before, but never taken out of a game by a gun. In this case a malfunctioning one. One must wonder if the Brewers are behind it all? Gun Gate anybody?

You know better than that, Rat. You have earned the right to be classified as a true baseball man. And as such, certainly you realize that Reyes is the real deal. The only thing that could keep this player from being a star would be an awful string of major injuries. Now if you please……. would the real Rats “Whitey” Buddy please stand up.

Yep stlcard25, Jose belongs DHing for some lucky team. As much as I like his bat, the man has to go….to the AL. The thing that gets me is that the Cardinals had to have known the full scope of his defensive ineptness for a long time. This man is no bumbling uncoordinated clown. Tell me that he could not have been transformed into at least an adequate 1st baseman during his time in the minors. This is the kind of stuff you see in the Padres organization….not in the sport’s second greatest franchise’s.

Jacob Barnes toting a mop as he heads out to the hill for the Crew. Pham foul tips one into the receivers mitt for strike 3 to open the Bird 9th. Gyorko doubles to right on a ball that Yelich corals 99-100 times. Ozuna grounds out to 2nd with Jedd tippytoeing it on over to 3rd. Bader our last hope…..and he sky’s one on the infield half way to Jupiter….the planet not Florida….and it will finally come down to the 2nd baseman’s waiting mitt to conclude this 8-3 Brewers triumph.

Matt Albers center stage here in the 7th to face our Birds. This Brewer pen has been near unbeatable Bader grounds out on 3-2 to 3rd after being ahead in the count 3-0. Munoz up….jack another one kid!… strikes out swinging . Francisco Pena strikes out too.

Mayers somehow weasels his way out of the Brewer 6th without a scoring blemish. Sweet! We can win this one!

Taylor Williams dealing for Milwaukee here in the 6th. Pham initiates the inning by hitting a floating liner to right for out #1. Gyorko Whiffs flailing. And on the first pitch, Marcell looked locked and loaded to do damage….and Williams obliges by heaving it right down Broadway….so what does Ozuna do?….watches it sail on by for a strike of course…..he then subsequently grounds it up the middle smack dab into the heart of the shift and that will do it for the Cards in the 6th…..still 5-3 Crew.

Braun with a wounded sparrow to center plating a run and now another Redbird defensive miscue puts both Brewers in scoring position….5-3 Crew still 2 down….and you simply cannot…..please allow me to repeat that……you SIMPLY CANNOT expect to win games with these sort of schoolyard defensive errors!

If I didn’t know Euro better, I’d think he was wanting to see me do the Bears super bowl schuffle from ’85. Only 2 problems Euro…..being a Packers fan I hate the Bears and my wife has been trying for 15 years to get me to dance….fortunately to no avail.

Braun laying good wood on Weaver offerings in his 2 at bats thus far. Braun straddling 1st with one out….now he finally drifts off a few steps west. Weaver then trys to pick him off but throws it away….Braun into 2nd….E-1. Next man up, Villar, coaxes a 3-2 wayward one, putting runners at 1st & 2nd with 1 out. Gary Stevens the home plate ump? I thought he was a jockey. Tell you what…if this Gary Stevens would have hopped aboard Secretariat, he would have finished dead last …if he even finished at all. Pina pops out to 2nd and hopefully Luke can weave out of this pickle. Chef Saladino walks and now the bases are overflowing with Brewers…..Maddox strolls out for a little chat with his young hurler…..not difficult to read those lips….”just don’t walk the b****** whatever you do”! Suter lines it off Martinez’ glove and it will trickle away….1 run is in….here comes another…and now Saladino has aspirations to making it 3 as he comes barreling in from 3rd and he is out by a mile! But the damage has been done as the Crew now has a 4-0 lead , but right here is Exhibit A as to what Weaver has to improve on… 8 pitches to the opposing pitcher! Come on, he’s better than that!
