Wainwright in the JD Drew trade
What we have to lose is that we rush him and he becomes another Walker or Gorman. Let him develope a little more. Will Church make this team a world series champion caliber team this year?
He’s been at AAA a little over a month. It doesn’t hurt to give a little more time to see if he can continue this production. He could come up in mid August and still make a difference if he’s really turned a corner on his offense. I don’t want to rush him like it seems we did with Walker.
I wonder if Doyle will start at Palm Beach this year. Don’t the Cardinals have most of their development guys at the complex? It would be easier to work with him on anything there.
Good news
I was reading an article about the Cardinals needing to address their pitching. It was a pretty good read, for a while. They said we need to remove Fedde and Mikolas (trade or release) and give one spot to McGreevy. He proposed Matz for the other spot. Then he mentioned how that would give the Cardinals 3 left handed starters: Liberatore, Matz and …. Pallante. I had to do some head scratching at that point.
1td, I think that is just so they don’t have to face as many of them.
July 11, 2025 at 8:48 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #95 thread – Friday, July 11 vs. Atlanta Braves #287026The Cardinals need to push Winn across the plate after that gift by the new 3b.
Just noticed that I said the second figure is the slugging. It should have said OPS. That would be some very high slugging percentages.
The only thing about the way I made the criteria “only minor leagues”, it left off Saggese and Fermin.
Baseball Reference. On my phone I went to the Cardinals MLB page of Baseball Reference and scrolled down to the “More 2025 Cardinals Pages”. There is a bold “Batting” that has other headings like “Detailed Stats” “Game Log”, etc. The last item in that area is “Recent Org Batting”. Then you put in search criteria and hit “Get results”. I then sorted it by the batting average column.

June 30, 2025 at 8:12 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #86 thread – Monday, June 30 at Pittsburgh Pirates #286168Jnevel, don’t forget Donovan walked to start the game.
June 30, 2025 at 8:10 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #86 thread – Monday, June 30 at Pittsburgh Pirates #2861677-0 is not too big of a deficit. Of course, we need a hit first.
June 30, 2025 at 8:05 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #86 thread – Monday, June 30 at Pittsburgh Pirates #286161Is that 8 hits now in this inning? I guess it’s 7.
Bart should be embarrassed. He swung at a pitch and didn’t make contact. Then he hits into a double play to end the inning.
June 30, 2025 at 8:04 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #86 thread – Monday, June 30 at Pittsburgh Pirates #286157Like the announcers said, if Fedde is not going to get the corners and the other team is not going to swing out of the zone, he is not good.
June 30, 2025 at 8:02 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2025 Game #86 thread – Monday, June 30 at Pittsburgh Pirates #286154Good play by Winn to get Horowitz trying to take third on the grounder. 5 hits now in the inning by the pirates. Fedde should be done. I think the last 2 innings have killed him.
