That tough Colorado pitching completely stymied this team not to mention the reputation of Coors field being a complete pitchers park and now they get 2, 3-run homers in an inning against Darvish. This is why you should never bet on baseball despite what FanDuel might tell you.
July 24, 2025 at 7:27 pm #288198Yeah, jj, I forgot all about that minor little detail…
July 24, 2025 at 7:30 pm #288199I think we need to never let a starting pitcher pitch again . . .
July 24, 2025 at 7:30 pm #288200Almost everyone likes to eat, so I never thought anyone other than Pete was dumb enough to bet on baseball…

jj-cf-stlParticipantDarvish looks done. He had to fulfill 6yrs at home before Free Agency. About to turn 39.
July 24, 2025 at 7:32 pm #288202Trying to give it back…7-5.
July 24, 2025 at 7:32 pm #288203On pace for a final score of 31-22 good guys here . . .
July 24, 2025 at 7:32 pm #288204Gray has secured six outs and has given up five runs!
July 24, 2025 at 7:39 pm #288205Anyone know why Westerholt isnt in Memphis lineup tonight?
July 24, 2025 at 7:40 pm #288206Pages really needs to stop calling for sinkers up and out over the middle of the plate. Shame on him.
July 24, 2025 at 7:41 pm #288207Anyone know why Westerholt isnt in Memphis lineup tonight?
Baker complained Wetherholt was gaining on him in career homers and pulled seniority on him.
Seriously, they said he was just getting a scheduled day off.
July 24, 2025 at 7:57 pm #288209Thanks Jnevel
July 24, 2025 at 8:02 pm #288210I love seeing Scott walks and steals.
July 24, 2025 at 8:09 pm #288211Amazing how much more Arenado has declined compared to Machado.
July 24, 2025 at 8:34 pm #288213Disappointed in Pages there. Against the lefty, he should have been able to at least make contact.
I was actually a bit disappointed in Walker before that. He was kind of looking to walk rather than get a big hit. Yes, he did walk to load the bases. But I kind of wanted to see him swing at one rather than leave it to Pages and Scott.
July 24, 2025 at 8:41 pm #288214I’ll probably be tarred and feathered for saying this but, possibly with the exception of his first couple of months as a Cardinal, I’ve never been too impressed by Gray. I’d say at best he’s a number 2 or 3 member of a decent rotation.
July 24, 2025 at 8:47 pm #288215O’Brien makes Tatis look silly then throws 3 strikes in a 5-pitch walk to Arraez. Go figure. Single by Machado brings on Romero.
Romero does his job and gets the last 2 outs. He’s been really good lately.
July 24, 2025 at 8:58 pm #288216Herrera goes yard in the bottom of the sixth for his first extra base hit since he came off the IL.
July 24, 2025 at 9:05 pm #2882171td, IMO Gray has always been a #2. On this team, he’s a #1. I would rather get a couple more #2s and develope a #1 in our system. Signing a free agent ace or trading for one is usually pretty expensive.
July 24, 2025 at 9:05 pm #288218Romero strikes out the side in the top of the seventh and looks great doing it. I’m starting to think he’s going to get moved too. Teams will definitely overpay to get him.
July 24, 2025 at 9:14 pm #288219Walker taking much better swings lately and making lots of loud contact but he still looks like he’s guessing at pitches in every at bat – just as he strikes out looking at a pitch nearly right down the middle. Guessing isn’t a terrible thing. Contreras mostly does it and gets by. But I still don’t like it.
July 24, 2025 at 9:23 pm #288221I sure hadn’t realized that Herrera’s 6th inning tater was his first extra base hit since coming back, Jnevel. Good to see him get off the Schneid with the HR.
July 24, 2025 at 9:27 pm #2882221TD – He’s actually been kind of bad since coming back. OPS in the .600 range. But he looks back fully tonight.
Ugh – Burleson bounces into a well-played double play with the bases juiced to end our 8th inning threat. That’s twice tonight we got the bases loaded with 1 out and zero runs both times. Helsley coming on to try to save it against some tough hitters.
On a side note – Peoria with a fun night tonight. They got down 5 runs early and came back to score the final 9 runs to win 9-5.
July 24, 2025 at 9:33 pm #288223Padres start with a base hit against Helsley. It feels like every game Helsley comes on for the save he gives up a base hit to the first hitter. This time Machado got him.
Strikeout of Merrill. Now Bogaerts with a fly to Walker. Need to get Sheets for the win . . .
July 24, 2025 at 9:36 pm #288224Yeah, Forsch, any sort of SP’ing that could be called of reasonable quality comes with a price tag and terms of length that’s simply so expensive and risky that it’s deemed silly to sane minds. Much better to develop or trade for rotation arms. Unless, of course, you can sign an arm for $300K who ends up being a future NL CYA winner and one of best big game pitchers of his era to work a Big League pitching mound in the post-season…Haha!
