cardsfan64ParticipantBrian, when will the Cards release the names of those invited to STEP Camp? Are they doing that this year?
cardsfan64ParticipantConfirmed on the transaction page:
02/06/26 – St. Louis Cardinals signed free agent RHP Justin Militello to a minor league contract.
02/06/26 – RHP Justin Militello assigned to Peoria Chiefs.
cardsfan64ParticipantThe Cardinals have signed @justinmili16 to a minor league contract after a super impressive pro day at @CoachKsAcademy
Militello (22) was a UDFA for the Braves last season posting a 5.86 ERA in 43 innings with 44 strikeouts, but 28 walks. https://t.co/vS9NS4OgRU

cardsfan64ParticipantBryan Ramos was claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Cardinals, per sources.
Cuban infielder was designated for assignment by the Orioles two days ago.

cardsfan64ParticipantSaw this on the transaction page:
02/05/26 – Colorado Rockies signed free agent LF Conner Capel to a minor league contract.
cardsfan64ParticipantNo problem, Brian. Just curious!

cardsfan64ParticipantI hope T-Mobile comes through with free MLB.TV this year! I moved from Terre Haute where I was in Cardinal territory to the north side of Indy, so I no longer qualify for Cardinals.TV. Guess I will find out in a month or two!
cardsfan64ParticipantHave you heard anything on this, Brian?
Breaking: The Cardinals are expected to sign RHP Leonil de Leon (17) to an international free agent deal.
Standing at 6'2, 170 pounds according to PG, Leon is a former SS prospect who converted to pitching. He's up to 95 mph on the mound with 2400 RPM on the fastball, and also… pic.twitter.com/nMYuMCN8bg

cardsfan64ParticipantJohn Denton let go from MLB!
The media business is a tough one, but journalists still sign up for it everyday.
Today is a rough one as I — and a few other colleagues — were informed by MLB that we were being laid off, effective immediately. The timing is tough with Spring Training a few days away. (1/2)

cardsfan64ParticipantThe Cardinals are signing 1B/OF Bligh Madris (29) to a minor league contract per @_chaseford
Madris hit .320/.414/.520 in the Mexican Winter League across 62 games with 8 homers.
At AAA Toledo in 2025 he slashed .232/.320/.384 with 5 homers in 50 games. pic.twitter.com/qKbOf20WJ9

cardsfan64ParticipantThat’s good to hear, Pugs! We have been hearing a bunch about Cijntje leading up to the trade, but I for one haven’t heard boo about the other two we got. Really glad we got not just one but two Comp. picks as well! I hoped we could pick up one of those in the Donny trade but two is icing on the cake!
cardsfan64ParticipantWill there be a wrap up of the Cardinals participation in the Winter Leagues?
cardsfan64ParticipantTWO Comp B picks!!!!
The Seattle Mariners have acquired All-Star Brendan Donovan. Deal is done. Full trade, per sources:
Mariners receive: Donovan
Cardinals receive: RHP Jurrangelo Cijntje, CF Tai Peete, OF Colton Ledbetter and two competitive-balance Round B picks
Rays receive: 3B Ben Williamson
— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) February 3, 2026
cardsfan64ParticipantWill the Suarez deal to Cincy give Seattle a little more push to make a deal for Donovan?
cardsfan64ParticipantThe White Sox are acquiring RHP Jordan Hicks and RHP David Sandlin from the Red Sox in exchange for RHP Gage Ziehl, per multiple reports.
Boston is also reportedly sending $8M to the White Sox in this trade to help cover some of Hicks' $24M salary. pic.twitter.com/pFx2OuczcB

cardsfan64ParticipantTotal guess but I will say around 70% of moves involved pitchers.

cardsfan64ParticipantMemphis should be the team to follow.
That’s what I thought going into last spring! Injuries to the pitching staff changed that! But I agree, they should be good this year, and Springfield will be good again as well.
cardsfan64ParticipantGot my PDF file and I am overwhelmed with all the info! Great job, Brian (and Kyle!)! I have been digging through the pages, but have so much more to see! This will be great to have now when not much is going on, and later when I want to look up info on a particular player. Super resource that I strongly recommend!
cardsfan64ParticipantHere is a name from the past! Remember him?
The Washington Nationals have signed Tres Barrera to a minor league contract. The catcher has a .241 batting average along with 223 RBI throughout his minor league career. pic.twitter.com/KKagwwfswJ
— Milb Central (@milb_central) January 29, 2026
cardsfan64ParticipantThanks for the update on these new players. Sounds like there is a lot of work that needs to be done, but Player Development can work their magic to provide future pitching depth!
cardsfan64ParticipantIf the Cards do trade Donovan,(which I have serious doubts about) my hope is they can get a comp draft pick in the deal. Maybe Seattle wants JoJo as well and will add the pick with some of their pitching talent!
cardsfan64ParticipantWe have signed OF Nelson Velázquez to a minor league contract with a non-roster invite to Major League Spring Training.
The right-handed hitter, 27, appeared in 194 games between the Cubs and Royals from 2022-24 and owns a career .433 SLG with 31 career home runs. pic.twitter.com/I8FpI2DUPl

cardsfan64ParticipantAnother reported signing of a minor league pitcher:
Cardinals pick up their second arm from @TreadHQ Pro Day in RHP Dominic Freeberger (25) who they will sign to a minor league deal.
Freeberger a former two-way player pitched 2024 and 2025 in the Orioles system to a 6.42 ERA in 47.2 innings with 56 strikeouts, but 36 walks https://t.co/zNhRTpie0k
