How about Donovan, Jo Jo, and Crooks for Anderson?

Seattle is unlikely to trade Kade Anderson for a quantity offer.

There is some quality in that offer. It might need to be sweetened but it is not a bad start at all.

I would prefer rh pitching anyway. If Seattle wants to get better in 2026 without spending a lot of money, there it is.

The more I’m reading lately re: moving Donovan, the more I hear people backing off from their insistence to a make a move. Now I see stories about keeping Donovan. He will be in our opening day lineup in LF.

It’s not like Donny is blocking anyone in the outfield 😀

The calendar has a lot to do with that, I imagine. The trucks from StL bound for Jupiter are being loaded on Monday.

Plus he still has 2 years left on a cheap contract…they have all kinds of time to trade him and get quality players in return instead of rushing to make a deal for a low quality return

All the Donovan trade talk has become exhausting. Im ready for baseball to be played.

Yeah, you’d think it was the day that Johnny let Albert get away.

But if Donny stays, we avoid the “Who Will Lead-Off?” thread of 50 pages!

Donny gone, and Noot IL, turns lead-off choices into another “runway”, but that fits us too.

I have read more about the Seattle Mariners in this one thread than I have in the previous 50 years.

We sure have, Scotty…….compliments of “Sweet” Harmony, whom hopefully calls this place his home away from home now. Who knows, maybe this is all leading up to a Cards-Mariners world series next fall? Wonder what the Vegas odds are on that?

Second that. Nice to hear a reasonable voice who isn’t biased toward the Cardinals.

At Saturday’s FanFest, Seattle PBO Jerry Dipoto reportedly said the club will acquire one more bat before or during Spring Training:

Mariners lose starting pitching depth. Will it make them less likely to trade a SP?

Seattle’s loss of right-hander Logan Evans to Tommy John surgery contributed to the Mariners’ recent decisions to sign Dane Dunning and Cooper Criswell for starting pitching depth.

But, yes, the Mariners are at least slightly less likely to trade a starting pitcher.

The Arraez to Donovan comparison doesn’t really seem apt. Donovan has been and is still a pretty decent defender at multiple positions. Arraez has transitioned from 2B only to a split at 1B/2B, to primarily 1B this past year. He doesn’t play defense very well either. Further, Donovan has been pretty consistently a solidly above average hitter. Arraez has trended toward very average at 107 and 99 OPS+ the last two years.

The above tweet may be accurate data for what it shows, but what it doesn’t show makes it intellectually dishonest. Donovan may not be worth a superstar prospect, but he’s considerably more valuable than Arraez. If on the market today he’d likely get a 3-4 year deal, not a one year flier.

Arraez 5 teams in 5 years. That says something without using numbers and charts.

PugsleyAddams and KeepComingBack, thank you for the compliments.

For the past 21 years, a Red Sox forum has been my “home away from home” although I’ve posted on forums for a vast majority of MLB teams. I am grateful for meaningful discussions and the knowledge I’ve attained about the sport I love.

Arraez seems to be on a downward trend though that could change. Donovan is pretty steady. I dont see why it matters though.

My guess is the Giants would have much preferred Donovan over Arraez for their 2B spot but they balked at the Cardinal asking price therefore signed the free agent Arraez for one year.

Will the Suarez deal to Cincy give Seattle a little more push to make a deal for Donovan?

I would doubt SEA was in on Suarez, and Donny was their fall back. Guessing. Doesn’t hurt Donny’s market with Suarez off the board.
