cardsfan64ParticipantBW, shouldn’t DSL Andey Garrido be listed as a pitcher, or did he change to OF?
cardsfan64ParticipantBW, I noticed your pic of Zeke Wood, and know he is on the restricted list. Apparently, that does not restrict him from practice. When does his restriction end so he can rejoin a team?
cardsfan64ParticipantMinnesota Twins have claimed RHP Zak Kent off waivers from the #Cardinals. His third team of spring training. But he does stay in Florida.

cardsfan64ParticipantBW said:
Interestingly, right now they have three DSL roster openings.
Including the new signees from January, how many does the DSL team have right now and how many are they allowed? My rough list has 35 that includes moving all the players to minor league camp mentioned in your current article. Am I close?
cardsfan64ParticipantBW, any word on a few International prospects that have been mentioned as signees by other outlets but never confirmed by the Cardinals? I am sure they are not a priority right now compared to ST and minor league camp getting ready to start. Side note, is there any way to know when DSL camp begins or are they on a year round schedule due to the academy?

cardsfan64ParticipantWhat would a trade involving JoJo to Boston net us in return? I read where they are looking for LH reliever help.
cardsfan64ParticipantBW, when or do the minor league teams start their games against other teams? Is there a schedule available and I missed it?
cardsfan64ParticipantIn a corresponding move, RHP Zak Kent has been designated for assignment.

cardsfan64ParticipantBrian, an added question about the IL: If Roby or anyone for that matter is put on the IL before being sent down to the minors, their pay is reflected in that, right?
cardsfan64ParticipantInappropriate relationship with his sister-in-law, who had been hired by the union in 2023.
MLBPA executive director Tony Clark resigned Tuesday, leaving the union without its longtime leader less than a year before the expiration of MLB's collective bargaining agreement, sources told @JeffPassan and @DVNjr.
Sources also said that Clark resigned after an internal… pic.twitter.com/aYqaRm9JlG

cardsfan64ParticipantI also am excited for baseball to start again! Even with the Cards not contending this year, or probably next as well. I am looking forward to seeing some of the new faces advancing their careers and improving on what happened last year, or the real new guys showing what they can do! I am especially looking forward to seeing some pitchers that have been hurt actually pitch in meaningful games soon! (I’m looking at you, Alec Willis!) Development seems to be the catch word around the team, so that is what I will be watching for!
cardsfan64ParticipantWe have claimed RHP Zak Kent off waivers from the Texas Rangers.
3B Bryan Ramos has been designated for assignment.

cardsfan64Participant#Dbacks are signing OF Oscar Mercado to a minor league deal with an invite to big league camp, I’m told.
He hit .249/.369/.373 with 40 steals in AAA last year. Can play all three OF spots. Had a low 14.3 K%. He’s played parts of 5 MLB seasons, mostly in Cleveland.

cardsfan64ParticipantThanks for answering my questions, Brian! Have a great time in sunny Florida! Love the pics you are posting! And thanks for including names with the pics. Many of the newer players and pretty much all of the staff are hard to identify otherwise!
cardsfan64ParticipantBrian, I noticed that you mentioned the rehabbing players in a separate spot in your article from yesterday, and Clark was a pitcher noted as a rehabber but his name (Clarke) was not marked in the upper part with a *. Is he coming back from an injury?
Also, I noticed that Willis is not in the listing for the camp. Have you heard if he is still injured or will he be a full go when minor league camp begins?
cardsfan64ParticipantThat makes total sense, Brian. I knew there was always a delay from when we hear of a signing until it officially happens. And in a few cases, the signing never really happens even though it was announced by a reporter.
Speaking of future commitments, I have noticed several this past year and ones for 2027 and 2028 that get out of their deals and are available to other teams. Is that normal, and how do they get out of a signed commitment like that? (either the player of the club?)
cardsfan64ParticipantBrian, will you and Kyle address what in the world the Cardinals were thinking with the trade of Granillo today? On the surface it makes no sense!
cardsfan64ParticipantAnother journalist confirming the signing:
International news: The St. Louis Cardinals and 18-year-old right-hander Leonil De Leon have reached an agreement on a deal.
One of the top pitchers available in the current international signing period.
