I don’t see worrying about minor league depth if you don’t use it. Last weekend would have been the time to add Jordan because we faced 2 lefty starters n

Jnevel, I think there are several important things when trying to improve our team. You try and improve your starters and reserve players, starting pitching and relievers.

First, you can dfa players without losing their services. What team would claim Roycroft. I really doubt anyone would want Fermin. Bruihls value is that he throws left handed. Pretty sure they’d end up at Memphis.

Second, we have Prieto, Jordan, and Mendoza as reserve depth pieces with Jordan possibly being a starter. But we will never know until we give them a chance.

Lastly, other teams have to make tough roster decisions too. So there are transactions and players available. Our bullpen is the 22nd best in MLB. That and our bench are inferior as currently rostered.

And I was just saying I’d like to see these players added, but that doesn’t mean all 3 will be moved. Could be September moves as well.

As I have stated before I would like to add Hansen and Rajcic. You could dfa Bruihl and Roycroft. Another possibility is to dfa/trade Stanek. I only think this because the FO seems much more willing to eat salary. The team might be able to eatb$2 mill of the remaining salary, which is far less than the salary absorbed by the Arenad and Gray trades.

I don’t upstand why myself? With Gorman struggling, I think they should give Jordan a chance. You can dfa Pozo or Fermin. They should add Rajcic too. Both are rule 5 eligible. Roycroft has only 1 option left, and I don’t think anyone will claim him.

Good to see the usual June promotions. More to come, I’m sure.

Another interesting is who might get a promotion in our minors. I would guess moving up Dobbins might set off a chain reaction of promotions. Could Franklin join Doyle at AA, or possibly Fajardo? I would hope Hendersons rehab should start soon, and he could fill in a slot at AAA. Meanwhile maybe build up Rincon to start? Davis has had 2 great games, but likely will stay put in Springfield. Molina has been solid. Lin is still a work in progress. Palm and FCL likely may move someone into a starting role from the bullpen. Graham and Van Dyke have already been ported.

These next few months will be exciting. We should see some of our rehabbing prospects pitch again. And the ‘26 draft picks will have a limited impact at Palm Beach and our FCL club soon.

It was nice to see Liberatore and Dobbins pitch well. Dobbins gave the bullpen a rest. Surely he deserves a start. But I wonder if Jordan, Gastelum, or Rajcic might be added. They’re all be Rule 5 eligible this November along with Mathews, Lin and Henderson. I also can see Mendoza replacing Fermin, at some point, as he will have options.
Now for who might lose their 40 man spot. Roycroft is an obvious choice. Prieto is vulnerable as well. Even Hence might be considered, although I would think he might be given another year.

1TD, that’s funny. But when I hear Crooks name, I think of Richard “I am not a Crooks” Nixon. Lol

Does this fill up our 40 man roster?

I wonder who the odd man out will be when Nootbaar gets added to the active roster? I can only think of Roycroft or Hence, maybe Bruihl. But I highly doubt they’ll trade a pitcher for a position player. Or if Nootbaar is dealt, which I doubt too. I would hope the Cards continue to play Torres.

I think our expectations were low coming into the season. And it must be noted that the Reds walked us off, and the Brewers tallied 2 in the 8th to finish the sweep. We could be 2-2 in the last 4. I am having more fun watching this team than I thought I would. And I believe a .500 or better record would be a good year. Agreed that we need at least a couple starters, and the relief is shaky beyond O’Brien and Romero. Soriano has been pretty good too. And I think we’ve had more injuries to our young pitchers who might have helped our depth. I also like the post about adding Hanson, and cutting Bruihl. Why not try it?

Baez is on fire. It’s good to see him progress. He will eventually make our outfield a plus. Which I thought at the the beginning of this year to be a black hole.

How long is it before Cho becomes a serious prospect again? He has been on a tear. He has 35 rbis in 41 games. I’ve always liked his obp skills, but little else. He seems to be putting together a great season.

I like Odle getting promoted. Another one to watch is Findlay at Springfield. He has limited experience, but if the FO has moved him to AA already they must like him.i wonder too if Franklin might join his teammate Doyle at Springfield this summer.

I think Rajcic should be given a chance. I thought he might make a good reliever. I think other than O’Brien or Romero, and possibly Soriano our bullpen is not good.

I’d like to see some updates on Clarke, Henderson, Hjerpe, etc. as most of their timetables were June. I guess Hjerpe is a reliever now? And why is Roby out for the 2026 when his injury occurred last July? I know you want to be careful, but I don’t see why he couldn’t pitch in relief in August or September.

Along with a salary cap, penalties should be high for those that constantly have a high luxury tax. You should lose like your first 5 draft picks for an increasing amount of years. In addition, deferred money needs limits as well.

Is there a chance we’ll add Rajcic? He should be tried at least. You could dfa Roycroft.

Good for Odle. I believe he he leads our minor leagues in Ks. The current staff may not strikeout as many hitters now, but with eventual addition of Fajardo, Doyle, Franklin, Mathews, Henderson that should change. Odle will continue to be one to watch to see if he can do well do well at Peoria.

I think that having 3 catchers now is unnecessary. Especially when when Crooks represents a major offensive upgrade. I don’t know where they’d play him, but Jordan could get some ABs.

It was great to see Davis pitch as well as he did. 0 walks, 10 strikeouts.

I expect Gastelum and Svanson to do better. Actually, Gastelum and Watson had a few bad outings that inflated his era. But on a good note, Burns and Galle have been very good. Maybe both may get a promotion this summer.

I see Dutkanych has a couple outings. I hope a good chunk of the injured pitchers will be doing the same.

Has anyone heard why Doyle didn’t pitch the other night?
