I wonder I’d Richardson is for real, or just had the week of his life. I suspect we will continue to see him hit for more power. His strikeout rate jumped also. It seems like a change of approach. Hopefully there’s not too much swing and miss now.

I prefer taking a pitcher like Flukey or Carlon, if one is still available, with Flukey being my first choice. Flukey reminds me of our own Uncle Charlie, Waino. I wanted us to take Doyle last year, which was a first.

I maybe looking too long in the future, but beyond our possible 2026 draft picks, we might have the rookie of the year and a competitive balance post 2nd round pick. I know the rules may change, but I would also angle to acquire more competitive balance picks at our trade deadline. Just call them players or picks to be named later. If we deal Romero, Nootbaars, or May I hope we get a haul.

Richardson has come out of nowhere. Can he sustain it? His previous numbers say no, but I am rooting for him.

I’m not comparing to Burleson. How athletic do you think Holliday or Schwarber were or are. I loved Holliday as a hitter, but Jordan has to be better than those 2. Try him there, if he fails, so be it. It is a position of need for us. We need to,find out about Jordan. Is he AAAA? There’s only one way to find out. I think the big question is he better than Gorman? Play him some at third and dh too.

Ha ha Brian, sorry I was assuming Church would be back tomorrow, and be our center fielder. And Torres could have been sent down before Scott. But I like the current roster as constructed, at least as far as position players. It will be good that Scott can get regular at bats and work on his swing. The only other position player I’d like to see is Jordan.

Good to see Love was promoted. I thought he’d begin the year at Memphis. He’s been good, much like Gastelum, but had a few bad outings that raised his era.

Also interesting to note with both Hence and Love have seen their velocity spike. I thought Love threw upper 90s in the past, but I thought he threw low 90 this spring training. Hence was throwing low 90s a month or so ago at Memphis about a month or so ago. Perhaps strengening and warmer weather helped.

I saw a Fansided article suggesting a trade for Kelly, #7 prospect for the Pirates for Romero. Not sure if this possible because of lack of wanting interdivisional trading. And I really don’t view the Cards as serious playoff contenders, but is that how our front office views us. I say you should make that deal, or sometung like it. A player that is going to walk should be dealt, if there is a reasonable offer. Now on the other hand, I think Nootbaar will not be dealt due to Scott being sent down. If the FO is demoting Scott they must like Nootbaar and Torres more than him, at least for now.

Accoording to ESPNs Tuesday night game box, Church is listed as back June 9th.

I think the lineup will be: (But with Oli who can be sure)

    2b Wetherholt
    C Herrera
    1b Burleson
    Rf Walker
    Lf/dh Velazquez
    Lf/dh Nootbaar
    Ss Winn
    3b Gorman
    Cf Church

    Although Oli usually likes lrlrlrlrl

I’ve read unconfirmed reports that Scott is being sent down? Church in center?

My, I was thinking the same thing. It s a heck of a rotation for Peoria, although I suspect Franklin and/or Fajardo are prime candidates for promotion.
I wonder if Cruz or Cabrera would be deemed ready for Palm Beach. Dutkanych might be another possibility. I was hoping to see Franco do well, but he hasn’t pitched much, or very well. They can fortify the Beach birds, but that’s going to leave our FCL teams rotation like a dumpster fire.

Dos Santos and Lebrón are playing very well for our FCL team.

Luna has 2 homers today. He has 3 total in 3 games. That’s a great start. Another 17 year old catcher is off to a very good start too. If Luna keeps this up is there any chance he goes t the FCL for a few weeks? Doubtful.

Another name who could be traded is Pallante. He may only get us a lottery pick, but the roster spot is valuable when several prospects from Memphis may be added to the 40 man roster. The only condition would be that Mathews or Mautz are ready to be the 6th starter.

ESPN has Cole Carlton from ASU getting picked with latest mock draft. Interesting pick. We may be trying to corner the market on lefty pitching.

I just wonder if we would be buyers. If the right deal came along. Granted, we aren’t trading any of our top prospects. Before the season started I thought we’d be sellers. Now, I’m not sure if we’ll trade Romero. I think we should try and trade him and Nootbaar. Now that we have Church, and with Baez in the STL outfield in the next year. Now, we don’t have to trade Nootbaar, as we have control for one more year, but Romero is a different story. He is a free agent after this year, and we likely couldn’t afford him any way.

Mud, I like that idea. The short porch at Yankee or Fenway, where he would play a majority of his games, might help Nootbaars hit 20-25 homers. And it seems the Yankees had interest in him, supposedly, during the off season. I would like a low minors starter, and a lefty reliever for him. That way trading Romero might be possible.

I think no one will get extended until the labor contract is settled. At which time I would hope they’d consider extending Wetherholt,Walker, Herrera, Burleson, and/or Winn. Any or all of these would seem to be our core.

Great pitching by Mathews, Franklin, Doyle, and Crossland. 21 innings, 4 runs, with 31 Ks.

Luna with his 1st professional home run. And the FCL team has a good number of young bats, plus Xavier Cruz, who recenrly was ranked number 29 by MLB pipeline, I think. Dos Santos is an excited prospect who has kept up a .1000 plus ops all season.

I’m not sure if Richardson and Suárez for Peoria are breaking out, or just on a heater. They both have higher strikeout rates than I’d like, but both have been very productive. They are both in my top 40.

I am not in favor of trading Burleson. We have a lot of years of control in him. And everyone is talking about extensions for JJ and Winn, but Burleson should be included in that list as well. But maybe you settle the labor contract first, then lock up our best players. If I was looking at trading anyone for pitching it would be Herreras. We have a surplus of catchers, and catching prospects.

The bats are pretty loud today for Memphis. 4 homers and counting. Baez and Jordan, who continues his push to make the big club.

Although he gave up a run, I was encouraged that Hences fastball was back up to 95. Perhaps he can regain his form. He only has 2 options left.
