    Brian,
Can you change Mike Montgomery to a LHP?

What is wrong here, this is all messed up.

I am still getting those error messages when I post. And it posts some stuff and other words/sentences fail to appear.

These two games are big, obviously. If the offense can maintain momentum, the Cubs’ starters are very pedestrian so they should score some runs. Chatwood in particular is very wild. This will be a test of depth with both the righty and lefty. I’d expect Bader to start one of the two and probably Martinez as well.

It will come down to which Luke Weaver shows up in game 1. He’s had some good outings of late and if he can give us a quality start, I think that’s a win for the Birds.

In game 2, Gant has been sneaky good this year. Do we know who the 26th man for this game is? Poncedeleon would seem to be a good candidate to eat innings if need be.

I believe Weaver will be the 26th man. It has not been 10 days since he was optioned out.

Oh, I’d forgotten about that. With all these games, a long man would seem to be a nice bonus. Even having someone like Gomber available yesterday to take the last 4 innings would have been nice. Seems a bit short-sighted, in hindsight. Hopefully Luke and John can whittle up the Cubs for 6-7 innings each today.

I believe Mike Mayers is your long man. We obviously don’t know how Shildt will use him, but Matheny (who generally did not have relievers pitch long outings) had Mayers throw more than one inning 10 times already this season.

True, and I thought of Mayers. Hopefully it’s all a moot point as the Cards pummel the shaky Cubs pitching staff unmercifully in both games. ?

Is it going to be Jekyll or Hyde today?

Hopefully the Jekyll version. We should know fairly early, as the “Hyde” Weaver will have trouble locating his pitches, and fall behind in the count too often.

If he can throw first pitch strikes, and stay ahead in the count on a regular basis we will be in the game.

On another note, what is with this batting order Maddon is using with Rizzo leading off? I know Rizzo has struggled this year, so maybe he is experimenting trying to get guys going. But he (Maddon) is acting quite Matheny-like in shuffling guys all over the batting order.

I still kinda liked him at the end of the lineup because he could be a table setter for the top of the order, especially late in games. But if he’s got his stroke back I don’t mind having him in an RBI spot.

    What, no posts???

    Carpenter with another homerun.

But DeJong hits into a DP with the bases loaded in the 5th to keep the score 1-1. It was a 1-2-3 DP.

And now the Cubs get to Weaver and plate a run to take a 2-1 lead and have runners at the corners with still nobody out.

This one is probably a lost cause. Weaver is now out.

3-1 with four innings to go as Ozuna kind of threw out Baez at the plate. Too early to assume how it will end.

This bullpen is absolute trash! 4 guys with ERAs over 7. What a freaking joke.

I’ve been a Cards fan since I 1990 when i was 5 years old and this is the worst bullpen I’ve ever seen.

In my mind the bullpen choices attempted by the front office over the last couple of years so far have been the biggest reason for the organization decline. Norris has worked out but:

Gregerson, Cecil, Holland have all been a huge waste. Leone via trade was not impressive at the time of injury.
