Well dang this team is bad in so many ways it is not even funny time to BLOW IT UP!
July 23, 2018 at 9:01 pm #61754It’s really hard to like this team sometimes. Bone heads on the base paths, inept in the pen . . . . what else is new?
July 23, 2018 at 9:01 pm #61755Schiltz should pack up his bag and walk right out of that clubhouse and never look back.
July 23, 2018 at 9:02 pm #61756This has to be the worst bullpen in the history of baseball
July 23, 2018 at 9:02 pm #61757Derrick Goold reminds us the pen did not get much help.
Look, I've seen Seung Hwan Oh bat cleanup at this ballpark in a close game after double-switch, so I know doozy decisions at #GABP. But, please:
— Molina didn't take third on fly ball, could have led to sac fly, 2-0 lead.
— Norris is the closer, got two outs, guy hits 20th HR.— Derrick Goold (@dgoold) July 24, 2018
July 23, 2018 at 9:02 pm #61758That’s the straw that broke the camels back as far as I’m concerned.

ParticipantThe Pirates are winning.
July 23, 2018 at 9:03 pm #61760And yet our “stellar” fo still thinks that we’re a playoff team…we’re just after the All-Star break and have a 500 record, we’re a few losses from being at the bottom or almost there in our own division…we need BIG changes, not tinkering…
July 23, 2018 at 9:04 pm #61761
stlcard25ParticipantAt this point, I’d rather watch Matt Carpenter lead off and then 8 batters stand and watch every pitch go by, then let every pitcher pitch until the game is over regardless of pitch count…than trust another game to this bullpen or watch these anemic bats continue to look putrid.
The Reds just gave up 27 runs this weekend to a team that gave up before their season even begun. This offense couldn’t score 2 off them. Let that sink in.
July 23, 2018 at 9:04 pm #61762The Molina bonehead move cost us more than likely but Norris couldn’t get the 3rd out. So we’ll never really know.
This team needs to sell a guy or 2 and regroup for 2019 with a new manager.
July 23, 2018 at 9:05 pm #61763After 100 games, the Cards are right back where they started, at .500. Unfortunately for them, the better teams in the league are not.
July 23, 2018 at 9:05 pm #61765History in the making… an unreliable pen… that was overused the last 2 games. mikey choose unreliable pen….
July 23, 2018 at 9:11 pm #61766the bullpen giving up the lead is not the issue…they’ve done that all year so that’s not surprising. Schiltz choice to go to them after they were overworked in the weekend series and not let pocedeleon a chance at history is the problem and why we lost this game.
July 23, 2018 at 9:13 pm #617672011 no it would have been epicly STUPID to send pocedeleon back out to the mound he was at 116 pitches after the 7th you don’t send him back out there to blow up his arm…Schiltz did the RIGHT move there..
July 23, 2018 at 9:15 pm #61769I’m utterly embarrassed to be a Cardinals fan today. Except for Carp, Yadi, Pham and Poncedeleon who pitched his rear off that whole team needs to be sent to a farm team, like an A Ball farm team. Unbelieveable…
July 23, 2018 at 9:16 pm #61770High praise, especially considering the source.
Regardless of no-hitter or not, I’m already impressed with pitcher Poncedeleon of the @Cardinals great repertoire!

Just watch all our talent go into high gear when the fresh voice kicks in.
July 23, 2018 at 9:22 pm #61773Who is Schiltz???
July 23, 2018 at 9:24 pm #61774This has to be the worst bullpen in the history of baseball
Well, the Braves bullpen in 2011 was pretty bad, but I’d put our current BP right behind them. Lose in the 9th on a walkoff to one of the worst teams in baseball after 7 innings of no-hit ball is as bad as it gets.
I agree with DWJ that expectations in STL are very high, but I disagree that we have the talent to be a playoff team this year. We are not playoff quality, and will not be in the playoffs. I’ll do the math in the next couple of days, but it would take a phenomenal finish and several teams laying down for the rest of the season to make even the Wild Card. Our BP has a 9.13 ERA in the last 14 games, and wasn’t much better before that. But you’re not going to win many games only scoring one run, so blame to go all around. We’ve become just another ball club, nothing special to see here…sadly.
July 23, 2018 at 9:25 pm #61775Schiltz is the guy that made beer in Milwaukee.
July 23, 2018 at 9:27 pm #61777I’ve been lurking this forum most of the season, but this is the first night I’ve felt compelled to create an account and getting involved.
What a disappointment! I am on the fence, honestly. Do you want someone to blow out their arm? Do you want to risk someone’s future? No, of course not.
But, to me, I think the guy earned the right to win or lose the game. So, if HE felt comfortable going, I would leave him in. If he gives up a hit, he gives up a hit. Hey, he tried. If he gives up a HR, it sucks, but like I said, to me, it’s his game to win/lose.
And who knows, maybe he lucks into a couple outs here and there.

stlcard25ParticipantIt’s an utter shame the way this team has wasted some historic efforts by rookies this year with absolutely terrible offensive performances. Remember when Flaherty dominated the Brewers through 7, giving up only the down and away reach for it homer? Then Norris coughed it up in the 9th for a 2-1 loss.
As they say, it’s deja Vu all over again.
July 23, 2018 at 9:32 pm #61780What a complete meltdown.Molina brainfart,Pham dumb on basrunningagain,bats fail again,Norris flops in 9th.What`s next?Team bus gets a flat tire ? What a complete crapstorm.
July 23, 2018 at 9:36 pm #61782For those posters on the side of sending Poncedeleon back out for the 8th, I have one name for you…

I realize you are very down on Pham but his out was not a dumb baserunning play. I’ll never fault a guy for going all out and he simply couldn’t quite stop in time there. Bad luck more than a bad play. It just came at a dubious position.
The rest of the stuff there…totally agree. A very bad game.
