FO brought in four guys to be the closer… only Norris has worked out. Plus Leone who hasn’t been seen in a long time. The other three duds are on Mozeliak… high ERAs and not dependable. Nice going Mo. Oh, and they are costing us a lot of dough. Together with Fowler, its a very big chunk of change flushed down the toilet. This is why we are a .500 team. Actually .500 is pretty good considering.

    7-2 Cubs is your final.

The final score in Game 1 is 7-2, Cubs.

As bad as the bullpen was, the offense was held to just two hits.

I recall the year but the bullpen with Esteban Tan and Juan Agosto WS pretty awful also.

The Pirates are right on our tail.

Way too much chaff in the bullpen. The front office needs to admit some mistakes and DFA players even if it’s a money loss. Holland, Bowman, Gregerson and Lyons are the first round to go.

Tyler Chatwood with 6 walks and one run allowed? Major eye roll there. It’s like this team has a rule that they’re not allowed to take any momentum from one game to the next.

    Worth a chuckle.

Garcia starts both games as Gyorko does not. Carp sits.

    I’m surprised Gyroko isn’t starting game 2.

Only so much Shildt can do with this train wreck of a bullpen. I have zero faith in Gregerson, Lyons, Cecil, Holland, Tui, and the optioned Bowman. Brebbia and Mayers are fair which only leaves Hicks and Norris as go to guys.

The other thing I’m sick of with this team is the inability to win back-to-back games with good offense. Geezus! Every damn time this team manages to have an offensive outburst they follow it up with a friggin’ dud! EVERY! SINGLE! TIME!

Other than the fact Martinez was looking like he was hurt way before the 5th inning, I have will no have other comment.

So Ozuna will sit Sunday right?

They treat him like the ironman but he’s more like Cal’s lil bro.

So far in game 2, Gant has managed to keep the Cubs at bay, but the offense hasn’t done a ton against Montgomery. 1-0 Cards.

Baez and Maddon thrown out after theatrics on a check swing strike three call. Still 1-0 in T6th.

My guess on Gyorko is he is sitting due to sloppy defense, but that is just a guess.

Oh goodness, it’s Holland. I can’t watch this one thanks to the Fox blackout but that’s probably a good thing.

Some of Mo’s finer work on display this inning.

3-1 Cubs. That error by DeJong was a killer.

Marp with his one at bat for the night puts one into the CF seats. He’s atomic at this point. Homers in 6 straight games.
