On a side note……is Giancarlo Stanton going to hit a homerun in every game the rest of the way? Is that guy on fire or what?

Eight is great! Sort of an “ugly” win yesterday though. The ninth turning out to be a stressful inning for Rosenthal, and he no doubt is unavailable today. Matheny probably should have stayed with Martinez another inning at least, but we still got the “W” despite the bad ninth inning.

Wacha has been as consistent as any starter the last six weeks or so. We’ve got a great shot at number 9. I imagine Dickey is no fun to face though. Remember back in the ’80s when Whitey would never play Silent George Hendrick against Phil Niekro? Hendrick said one game against Niekro would “mess up my swing for a week”.

Fowler and Molina sit and Gyorko misses his second game in a row.

What exactly did Carpenter do in the 9th that almost screwed things up?

Redbirds had a chance in the 8th. Bases loaded and one out but Garcia gets caught looking and Molina pinch-hits and grounds to 3rd.

6-3 Atlanta the final. Winning streak stopped at eight. Cubs a 2-1 lead in the 7th at Arizona. Stanton another dinger today.

And now a tough six game road trip coming up with two in Boston and four in Pittsburgh.

Can anyone explain why Greg Garcia looked at strike 3 with 1 out and the bases loaded in the 8th?

Had to lose one at some point.

RA Dickey isn’t like any other pitcher out there and the youngsters we depend in really have no experience with anyone like him.

Shake it off and get back at it!

Because Greg Garcia isn’t a run producer. He’s likes to work counts and walk a lot. When a pitch isn’t to his liking he tenses up and doesn’t swing at it.

We couldn’t win forever. Just stinks that we had to lose today and head to Boston. The level of comp IMO gets a bit higher.

I don’t care if a pitch isn’t to your liking, if it’s anywhere close in that situation you can’t leave the bat on your shoulder.
