As the Cardinals play game 100,I am reminded of an old baseball saying.. The first 99 games is just for fun… Now it’s time to get serious. Actually that’s not an old baseball saying. I just thought of it.
I’ve noticed in his last couple AB’s, Martinez is more in the box. Before his back heel would be on the line which I feel was leading him to swing and miss at a lot of outside pitches.
Even if he pitches well, there’s no telling when Scilts will pull him. Look at what happen with Flaherty and Micholas. Our buillpen needs rest. Too much work in the Cubs series.
It worries me that with all these young talented pitchers coming up,we don’t have a young talented catcher to work with them. Lets face Molina is not the catcher he use to be. True.. his offense has gotten better but his ability to call a game, and his defense has slacked off. Although he will go down as one of the greatest game callers of all time, he is not one of the best game callers in recent years. Not all the blame, but part of the blame has to go on Molina for our bullpens lack of success the last couple years. I feel he’s good first time through the order but as the game goes on, he’s not able to adjust to hitters adjustments. To old school. Yadi will forever be the love of many cardinal fans and what he has done in a Cardinal uniform will never be forgotten but there has to come a time where you say Thank you and will please pass on your knowledge to these young catchers who we hope with your guidance will be as good as you were one of these days.
Larussa once said if Yadi was batting 000,he would still be in the line-up every day… Do you think Larussa would still say that ?
If Poncedeleon wants to stay in the game after 5, he’ll need to be perfect thru 5 and/or a pitch count in the 30s.
another series loss. Disappointing but honestly with our pen coming in…. in the 6th, is anyone that surprised we lost this game?
for us to win, we’re going to need to score 8 runs a game on average.
or not
got my rally cap on. we’re scoring 7 runs this inning.
is it me or does Schiltz appear to be over managing? or perhaps someone can explain to me his decisions. Last night,he took out flaherty after 5 and today Micholas goes 5. I understanding wanting more offense but you’re also relying on an unreliable bullpen to either hold a lead, keep it tied,or stay close.
Big win last night. Our goal for the rest of the season should be to gain at least .5 game a week in the standings. If we do that, we put ourselves in a really good position going into the final week of the season.
Milwaukee is 2-6 this past week. a great oppt to close ground but not the Cardinals who are 1-4 since last sunday. Only 1 game gained and that was because we had off days on mon and thurs which Milwaukee lost both times.how pathetic is that.?
fans of the astros and cubs who had to suffer thru those 90 and 100 loss seasons could have some saving grace because they knew they were building something special. All they had todo was be patient. But all the cardinals are doing is wasting time and money and building nothing.
an embarrassment to not only Cardinals baseball but the history of baseball and all athletes ( young and old to play a sport whether it be for fun or money.
what a joke?
To all the Cardinal greats who have worn the Jersey with the birds on the bat proudly, I want to humbly apologize for this years 2018 team for utterly disgracing the honor and pride of the Cardinals name and history that comes with it.
To many inconsistencies in the offense, defense, and bullpen. I understand if one of those areas has an off night but the other 2 have to pick it up but lately it’s been all or nothing especially in June.
Ok, I said my little rant. We need to get on the ball, close out June with a win, win the series tomorrow, and finish the first half of the season strong. We are capable… We’ve proven that. We need to start playing like we did the last 2 @ Milwaukee and the first 2 vs Cleveland. .. and do it on a consistent basis, and it needs to start tonight.
Go Cardinals!
I am always a fan through thick and thin but this offensive inconsistency is getting really old and really hard to watch.
Not a great game, perhaps a little bit of let down from last night but sometimes you just gotta tip your cap to the other team and move on, and build on the positives, like Euro said… we did win the series, were hitting better… We just ran into a pitcher who had good stuff tonight. I think we all can agree Kluber isn’t a bad pitcher,he just didn’t have his stuff last night and Cardinal batters took advantage of a rare opportunity. Tonight, Jack didn’t have his best stuff and Cleveland took advantage of what will soon become a rare opportunity when Flaherty has an off night. Even in a loss<I will take a positive from it and that is our bullpen continued to perform well… Only 1 run in 5 inn which gave us a fighting chance. Also the brewers loss and the Cubs were losing at last check 6-2 in the 5th,so at least we didn’t lose ground. Lets put this game in the past, players can rest for a day, then welcome in the Braves for 3.
Bad breaks for Jack in the 3rd with the broken bat force play and the bloop single. Cardinal offense needs to pick him up.
Here’s the thing I question about the Cardinal offense. You’re. facing a pitcher who is throwing first pitch. strikes to each hitter. Yet they continue to take the first pitch instead of being aggressive.
Fowler’s last at bat is a good example of why he’s batting below 180. Looks at 2 pitches in the Zone, and an Ole swing at a ball in the dirt.
Shaky 2nd. Jack made a couple mistakes, it happens. Hopefully he can settle in and the offense can figure out Bieber.
I’d like to see Pham get a couple hits tonight even if they’re both singles. He needs to break out of this funk.
With already a series win, and a night after clubbing the best pitcher in the game, The Cardinals need to make sure they don’t have a let down. I do expect Flaherty to be on his game and if we’re able to get a lead for him early, I see him holding it until the later innings… The bullpen just needs to make sure they hold it for him. And with the way our bullpen has pitched of late along with Hicks and Norris being rested, I see that a good possibility.
Go Cardinals.
Great win and our bats came alive against one of the best pitchers in the game. Player of the game goes to Carp for his 5 hits including 2 homers and setting the tone early with his lead off homer against Kluber in the first
It has been great birthday. Anything for a Cardinals victory, Pugs. I’d celebrate a birthday every day even if it did age me. Heck, I have kids that age me already. Might as well get a Cardinal victory out of it.
