ParticipantGregerson and Lyons activated. Weaver and Brebbia down.
July 13, 2018 at 1:12 pm #60013I like the creativity of the Weaver move by Mo!

ParticipantCMartinez, Flaherty and Mikolas get starts before the AS break. Gant is #4 starter… it’ll be interesting who the FO selects as #5. Weaver comes back? Gomber gets first MLB start? or is something else in the wind?

stlcard25ParticipantI’d be fairly certain that this is a way to limit innings for Weaver more than anything else.
July 13, 2018 at 3:54 pm #60021First game of the final series of the first half of the season. (Whew!)
Toyota Cardinals Live pregame starts at 6:30.

stlcard25ParticipantGlad to see Pham moved down. The new look Dejong with the lower K and higher BB rate is a pretty solid hitter for the second spot in the order.
July 13, 2018 at 4:30 pm #60025Makes sense to send Weaver down, rather than waste a roster spot with three games left before the break.
Watch out on anything the Reds hit to right field – could be an adventure.
Since May 15th, Cards are 25-27, Reds are 27-23. A Cincy sweep gets them to 4 games back of St. Louis. A Redbird sweep puts the Reds 10 back of St. Louis, same as on May 15.
July 13, 2018 at 7:48 pm #60048Reds lead 2-1 after one inning. Molina with the RBI.
July 13, 2018 at 8:11 pm #60050Weaver will be back to be the #4/5 starter. It is not primarily an innings break for Weaver (though it may serve as that depending how much he pitches at Memphis). What it is is a move to add an arm to the pen without Weaver making a start. It is also a way for Mo.to avoid an even tougher roster decision for a few days.
July 13, 2018 at 8:16 pm #60052They’ve sent Mayers down about six times already this season. It won’t be that difficult for them to do it again. That is what happens when no one else in the pen (except Hicks) has options.
Scooter Gennett’s solo homer puts the Reds up 3-1 in the third.
July 13, 2018 at 8:51 pm #60053Martinez is done after five innings. Three runs on six hits and two walks.
July 13, 2018 at 9:38 pm #60054Now it’s 4-1 in the top of the 7th…
July 13, 2018 at 9:40 pm #60055At the game. Lackluster play again, and looks like MM is in trial and error mode with pitchers. Gregerson, really, when you’re down by two? Terrible offense… just one example leaving J-mart on 1st after walking him w/1 out. Fans very frustrated too. We need an intervention for this team!
July 13, 2018 at 9:47 pm #60056I guess he figured we’d already mailed it in and it didn’t hurt to pitch both guys off the DL. lol!
July 13, 2018 at 9:51 pm #60058Boos ring out at Busch as pinch-hitter Dilson Herrera’s three-run HR off Tui gives the Reds an 8-1 lead. Cincy still batting in the seventh.

ParticipantMy only regret is that I have 4 box seats for this Sunday.
July 13, 2018 at 9:57 pm #60060The fans don’t understand what a good team this is. If the starting pitcher, bullpen, and offense had performed better tonight, the Cardinals would probably win the game. Just ask DeWitt, and I’m sure Mo agrees.
July 13, 2018 at 9:57 pm #60061Time to look at who can be moved for young talent. This team is sinking and it won’t get better this year. Time to clean house starting with the top guy upstairs and the top guy in dugout.
July 13, 2018 at 10:09 pm #60064Please tell me Carpenter picked up his helmet after he throw it down.
July 13, 2018 at 10:24 pm #60065NJ315
ParticipantGood inning by Holland. No errors today.
July 13, 2018 at 10:32 pm #60066Cards lose 9-1 to fall to 47-45 on the season. Of the six St. Louis pitchers, only Greg Holland(!) looked good. The meager offense consisted of four hits, all singles.
July 13, 2018 at 10:34 pm #60067Yep, offense is lifeless. Reds’ pen has been abused recently, but tonight four Reds’ relievers combined to hurl four hitless innings.
July 13, 2018 at 10:36 pm #60068bccran
ParticipantThis team is one of the most uninspiring Cardinal teams I can remember – going back many decades.
July 13, 2018 at 10:43 pm #60069To all the Cardinal greats who have worn the Jersey with the birds on the bat proudly, I want to humbly apologize for this years 2018 team for utterly disgracing the honor and pride of the Cardinals name and history that comes with it.
