This is what I like to see… Base to base… with hustle. If the pitcher makes a mistake, then capitalize… Otherwise don’t. over due it and take what they give you.
Nice shutdown Inning after given the lead.
Good hustle by Badger and Fowler to get themselves in scoring position. Also good timely 2 out hitting by Carp and Mart.
Go Cardinals.. Keep the runs coming.I agree 3-5 runs will be needed for a win. I feel small ball will be key especiall In the early going. If we can manufacture a run or 2 even via productive outs I feel will be big as the game progresses into the later innings.
Big win yesterday in typical Cardinal fashion… Good pitching with our runs as the result of home runs. That being said I feel we showed a lot of heart esp. after being whooped in game 1 followed by heartbreaking loss in game 2, then start game 3 0-2…we didn’t. give up and battled back. Even though it was yadi supplying the offense.. I know the others were trying. It’s. funny after a tough loss, I’ll sometimes say we didn’t try, we don’t care but who am I to determine who tried and who didn’t? What do I know. I am just watching as a loyal fan. I don’t know what it’s. like to not get the big hit or make the big pitch or get critiqued by millions when I don’t. I know Fowler and Wing are struggling but they are trying and they will hit their stride where they go through 3-5 week stretch where they consistently bat over 400 but until then they have my support because as long as you wear the Cardinal jersey… No matter success. Or struggle I am a true blooded fan through thick and thin.
A win today will almost feel like a series win. Weaver usually has that one shaky inning between the 3rd-5th… If he can avoid that, I expect a good outing, 6 or 7 innings will be big and get out with a split before heading to Cleveland (or do they come to St. louis?) anyhow, in a few more hours I will sit in front of the TV wearing my Cardinal shirt with my Cardinal hat as I drink a cold one covered in a Cardinals. Coozie.and cheer my Cardinals on as I become player, manager, and GM all in one but what I am most of all is a Cardinals fan. Good luck today,Weaver, you got this. Go Cardinals.
It’s funny how every Cardinal slump when they’re losing games, I become manager, GM, and player all in one. I wanna trade these people, Matheny should have done this,Molina should have called this pitch but bottom line I have know what idea what I’m talking about… just a Cardinal fan who wants to see his team succed. By the next game the glass which was empty becomes half full again and tell myself this game will be the start of a long stretch of winning games. We can still get the split against Milwaukee.I know it’s not what we wanted but it would be a positive outcome esp after losing the first 2.And if we can come back to make the playoffs after being down by 8.5 games with 25 left in 2011, we can surely come back from 6.5 to possibly win the division or 2.5 to claim a spot in the wild card with 92 games left. We can do this.we will do this and it starts today. After this series We still have 7 games remaining against Milwaukee and all are at home. I may rant and get upset with my Cardinals because of how they are performing but I bleed Cardinal red though and through and will never give up hope and will continue to cheer my team regardless of who’s leading the team or who’s on the field. Go Cardinals.
The walkoff was a fast ball not a slider unless you know many pitchers that throw a 96mph slider.Molina set up on the corner asking Norris to place it there. Good call on a 2-2 pitch or or 3-2 pitch,but not 0-2..
I have been cardinal fan for over 35 years and I don’t remember a team more embarrassing than this one. The best Cardinal team to never win a World series was the 85 squad. They were special. Coleman Lf, Herr 2b, McGee Cf, Clark 1B, Van Slyke Rf, Pendelton 3b, Pagnozzi C,Smith ss. Only Clark would hit over 20 hr,maybe Vanslyke,,, I think the rest didn’t even hit 20 homers combined for a season and you know what, that was ok because they didn’t try to swing for the fences. We led the league in runs scored that year, and only hit 58 hr as a team
I will also blame Matheny for this loss and his inability to manage late. top 8, 2 on,no out in a 1-1 game with Hader coming in. Bottom of the order due up. Am I wrong in thinking a bunt would have been the thing to do in that situation?
Once again our offense ruins a great pitching performance. And for all you Molina fans who thinks he still has it…Explain to me why you would call an 0-2 fast ball on the corner to a batter who 2 innings ago hit a homer one handed..Just asking.

I truly believe the only move we need to make is to get rid of Mabry and help our hitters make adjustments in their swing, not to approach a pitcher the same way in your 2nd and 3rd time at bat. I feel Mabry’s way of coaching is telling his hitters to be selective at the plate and tries to convince them to wait for a certain pitch but how many times have you seen a Cardinal hitter start a count 0-1, 0-2, or 1-2. And they’re always swinging for the fences.Home runs are nice but I’d rather see them in the later innings as more of insurance runs. They need to put together basehits instead of relying on a pitcher to make a mistake so they can hit a homerun.

I actually believe we have the potential to be a good offense but our hitters need to make adjustments that goes beyond knowing what the pitcher is going to throw. They need to make adjustments in their swing and Mabry is not the guy to teach them
How much longer must cardinal fans suffer while we wait for Moz. to make a move and fire Mabry. Firing a coach makes a difference. Look at our pitching. We got rid of last years. Pitching coach… Replaced him with one who knew what he was doing and were at the top. Please John Moz… Do the right thing and replace Mabry. Here are some possible candidates. Edmonds, Van slyke, Walker, Coleman, or fredbird.I’d like that too but every hitter swings for the fences it seems. A good hitting coach would pickup on that and have hitters make adjustments as the season progresses but Mabry is our hitting coach…. enough said.
I think you must’ve misread my post… I was praising Molina for being one of the best catchers the game has seen but he wont be around forever so why not let a young catcher learn from one of the games best so when the switch is made,he’ll be ready. Besides Molina is not the best game caller not even for our team. Look at the numbers… Starting Era, Bullpen Era are lower when Pena and Kelly catch. On average strikeouts are up and walks are down. And explain why is it that in the 5 starts as Pena being the Catcher while molina was on the dl Micholas and Wacha,and Weaver gave up less runs,less hits, and more K’s in their combined 4-5 starts than they have their 2 starts since Molina has come off the Dl. I know announcers say their missing their spots…. Ya,ok…. They miss their spot with Molina but didn’t miss their spot in those 5 games with Pena. Read that sense out loud and tell me if that makes sense.
When DeJong comes back, they should move Carp to first because he’s better at first than 3rd due to his weak throwing arm. He can make the tough plays but he’s not able to rifle it to first… just lobs it there. That’s why it makes sense to move him to first, and put Gyroko at 3rd. This makes even more sense if we can get Machado by the trade dead line… then you could platoon Gyorko and wong at 2nd.
