Hope this move doesn’t backfire
The bullpen can never make it easy.
Are there many blind hogs looking for acorns?
C’mon Norris. 1-2-3.
Although hes Struggled all season, Fowler has come up with big hits at times
Yes
Cardinals Bullpen 3 and 2/3 innings scorless in one game. You don’t see that often. Maybe this is the start of a new trend.
Great play by munoz. Risky but it payed. Off
Not looking good with 2 on and no out
The whole line up is overdue.
Paul De is way over due
We’ve had 3 rookie pitchers take no no’s into the 7th this year. Has that been done before?
Not Carps night.
Bullpen effective so far
Is it just me or does Bailey look a little like Christian Bale?
True NJ… That team was 53-47 after 100 games but I look at it from this angle. That team was also 55-50 after 105 games and if we can do that, it will put us within 5 games of the lead of either the div or WC depending what the brewers do. That would be big going into the trading deadline. That more than likely would force the FO. to make a deal and get a couple pieces were missing… Preferably the bullpen. Not a big name player where we give up a lot but just an impact player that makes a difference going into the final 2 months of the season. It may be just the die hard, always believe, never give up hope Cardinal fan in me saying this but I have to look at the glass half full.
Anyone know when Wacha. Is due back or WWaino’s status?
Even with an inconsistent offense and unreliable bullpen, I still remain hopeful for this season. Primarily because we’ve done it before. Back in 2011 we were 8.5 GB in the WC Starting Set 1st and something lit a fire under our ass, went. 20-8 to close out the season and eventually won the title. I realize the players are different and TLR isn’t managing but I still remain optimistic that we’re going to find that fire and turn our season around. If we gain a game a week in the division and .5 in the wild card, we’ll be in good shape going into the final week. We can do this. We will do this.
Let’s. Go Cardinals.I want to apologize for some of my comments in last nights Game #100 thread. I could have been a little more mature in explaining why I disagreed with Schildt’s decision to pull Poncedeleon. I understand that’s the way of the game today, but I’m just old school and believe a pitcher should at least have a chance to be able to finish what he started esp if he has a chance at history. Nolan Ryan at age 42 pitched in a game where he had 164 pc, and the next game 152… John Tudor was matched up with Gooden in 85 in an epic pither’s duel that went 10inn with Tudor getting a complete game shutout. Tudor had a pitch count of over 140. He still pitched great the rest of the season and into the playoffs. Even if we would have won last night, I still would have disagrred with the decision but the frustration of this year with our offense and pen just reached a boiling point last night. I should have been more upset at the pen for ruining a masterful job from Poncedeleon. It wasn’t fair to lay all blame on Schildt… he was just doing what he felt was the right decision at the time not only for the team but Poncedeleon.
the bullpen giving up the lead is not the issue…they’ve done that all year so that’s not surprising. Schiltz choice to go to them after they were overworked in the weekend series and not let pocedeleon a chance at history is the problem and why we lost this game.
History in the making… an unreliable pen… that was overused the last 2 games. mikey choose unreliable pen….
Schiltz should pack up his bag and walk right out of that clubhouse and never look back.
yes I would let him throw 150 pitches for a chance at history. he wasnt given that chance… our bullpen was asked to hold a 1 run lead and look what happened… he wont even get the win now. Mike schiltz did this young man an absolute injustice.
I absolutely disagree with Schiltz decision. A chance like this doesn’t come often. Now not only do you not give him a chance at history but you ask our unreliable bullpen to hold a 1run lead for 2 innings, so he may not even get a chance at a win. As far as pitch count… well if Schiltz would have looked ahead at the schedule, he would have noticed we have an off day thursday which means Poncedeleon wouldn’t have to make another start until Tuesday.
Poncedeleon- Flaherty – Gombers – Gant- Reyes. That very well could be our opening day rotation for the 2019 season.
