1TD, I got to see him pitch the final weekend of the season against the Cubs in St. Louis. He threw a complete game giving up four hits and one run. He was on a roll!
To this point, none of the pitchers signed during the 2021-22 offseason have contributed much. The mid-year acquisitions have been much more productive. I remain confused as to why the Cardinals were not more aggressive in trading for or signing another starting pitcher this past offseason.
ZTR, we have a slight difference in ERA. Tudor’s ERA at the end of May was 3.74 (if my math is correct).
Guys, do not lose faith in Matz! He has had a rough start to the season. However, I would like to remind every one that John Tudor was 1-7 on May 30, 1985. John went on to finish the season with a record of 21-8.

The Cards really need a good outing by a starter. Hoping Montgomery can give us six innings giving up three runs or less.
Stratton replaces Romero with two out and one on. He gives up a two-run shot to Vargas and Cards trail 7-2 after seven innings.
Smith singles, advances to second on WP. Muncy walks. Heyward is awarded first base on Catchers Interference (Flaherty at 99 pitches). Outman HBP, Smith scores (5-2). Flaherty leaves with bases loaded and two outs. He finished with 110 pitches.
Ugh! Walk, Catchers Interference and HBP. Ugly!
Heyward has two hits, two RBI’s and a few good defensive plays.
Goldy doubles, steals third and is left stranded. Redbirds trail 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
Freeman walks, scores on Muncy double in the right field gap (3-2). Muncy scores on Heyward double just inside the third base bag (4-2). Flaherty at 70+ pitches thru three innings.
Rough start for Jack up to now.
Chance for a big inning here as May has walked Noot and Goldy … two on, no out.
So much for that! May strikes out Gorman, Heyward makes a nice catch in right to retire Arenado and Contreras hits into a force play. Ugh!
