4-2 now for the other guys. LA is swinging away on Flaherty. 66 pitches already.
April 28, 2023 at 10:20 pm #218203Flaherty getting his butt handed to him.
C’mon boys, tighten up!
April 28, 2023 at 10:20 pm #218204Freeman walks, scores on Muncy double in the right field gap (3-2). Muncy scores on Heyward double just inside the third base bag (4-2). Flaherty at 70+ pitches thru three innings.
Rough start for Jack up to now.
April 28, 2023 at 10:29 pm #218205Has anything been said about O’Neill not playing?
April 28, 2023 at 10:29 pm #218206Cards do not score in top of fifth. Need Jack to hold them here.
April 28, 2023 at 10:31 pm #218207Is there enough good starting pitching available via trade that won’t gut our minors completely? It appears that’s likely what it will take to help this team. It appears grabbing a quintana, happ or Lester just won’t cut it this year.
But yeah it’s still early! Lol
April 28, 2023 at 10:33 pm #218208Yes we need Jack to go 5 strong tonight. That is the standard accepted now.
April 28, 2023 at 10:35 pm #218209Euro Dandy – announcers said O’Neil scratched due to back tightness. All I’ve heard so far.
April 28, 2023 at 10:36 pm #218210Good inning for Jack! Retires the Dodgers in order. His pitch count sits around 80 after 4 innings.
April 28, 2023 at 10:36 pm #218211Flaherty has a 10-pitch 4th inning.
April 28, 2023 at 10:38 pm #218212Thanks CardsRedSox, earlier some were speculating on twitter Mo had a trade. It didn’t help when Woo said reason for his scratch was TBA, lol.
April 28, 2023 at 10:46 pm #218213Goldy doubles, steals third and is left stranded. Redbirds trail 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
April 28, 2023 at 10:59 pm #218215Nootbar makes a great catch on Hayward’s fly, but Contreras called for catcher’s interference. Stuck his glove out too far and Hayward clipped it. So, bases loaded one out. Flaherty follows up by hitting the batter with the bases loaded. 5-2, them. What the heck is going on with this team?
April 28, 2023 at 11:01 pm #218216Smith singles, advances to second on WP. Muncy walks. Heyward is awarded first base on Catchers Interference (Flaherty at 99 pitches). Outman HBP, Smith scores (5-2). Flaherty leaves with bases loaded and two outs. He finished with 110 pitches.
Ugh! Walk, Catchers Interference and HBP. Ugly!
Heyward has two hits, two RBI’s and a few good defensive plays.
April 28, 2023 at 11:07 pm #218217Romero strikes out Taylor with bases loaded. Whew! Now need some runs.
April 28, 2023 at 11:14 pm #218218Cards go in order in the top of the sixth. Has DeJong struck out three times tonight?
April 28, 2023 at 11:14 pm #218219yes
April 28, 2023 at 11:22 pm #218220Ugh! At least Romero held the Dodgers scoreless un the bottom of the sixth.
April 28, 2023 at 11:31 pm #218221Cards fail to score in the top of the seventh. Trail 5-2.
April 28, 2023 at 11:45 pm #218222Stratton replaces Romero with two out and one on. He gives up a two-run shot to Vargas and Cards trail 7-2 after seven innings.
April 28, 2023 at 11:45 pm #2182237-2
April 28, 2023 at 11:53 pm #218224Soon to be 9/9 losing the first game of a series.
A new Cardinal record.
April 28, 2023 at 11:55 pm #218225Stubby for interim manager and somebody with a pulse for pitching coach.
April 29, 2023 at 12:05 am #218226Stratton is another guy you really don’t want to see in a meaningful situation.
Another inning to go but it looks like another bad one. Give up 7 runs, make 2 errors, starter can’t make it through 5, 0-7 RISP, O’Neill injured again, etc. Sounds about right.
April 29, 2023 at 12:07 am #218227Soon to be 9/9 losing the first game of a series.
A new Cardinal record.
Before this year, I doubt anybody ever thought this is the kind of thing that can be a record.
