Biggest moment for Hicks in a long while.

Gotta hope Hicks can translate his recent good performances in low stress situations into something good in high leverage.

And he did just as I typed that.

And he was equal to the moment.

Yeah, Bikemike, Kershaw’s worth the price of a seat. He throws hard, changes speed, a deceptive wind up with 3 devastating pitches. Good move to first and fields his position. What else is there? Well, he’s a lefty…Haha! It doesn’t get any better.

Way to go Hicks! You and the club needed that strike out. Keyshawn is done, so it is time for the offense to get some runs!

Man, O’Neill is so frustrating. Great speed and power, but just not good at plate discipline. Swings at a lot of stuff out of the zone and can’t discern the borderline pitches. I really thought he was going to be good, but he just does not do well at pitch selection.

Hicks looking good lately. Not so much Tyler O’Neil. Three called strikes down by one in the top of the 8th. Gotta do better than that!

It doesn’t seem fair to only get 6 outs instead of the customary 27…

Man, thought Nootbaar would jump on that 0-1! Pitch was right there!

Donovan hit it on the screws but right at Taylor.

    This team is snake bit.

    Hicks gets it done.

He’s gone from horrible to unhittable.

    Works for me.

Maybe it is finally our turn to hand the other team a gut wrenching loss.

HicKs looking better. Lead off walk is a big no-no, but rebounded well. Need to get the home run leader here.

Cardinals have been in some really well played games, but invariably lose them. We will see if that holds tonight.

Cabrera shaky – not really close on anything to Muncy. Carlson covers some ground! Man, you just really need that middle defense.

Wow, Carlson again. Really nice catch.

If we’d have had pitching and defense like this all year we would not be cellar dwelling.

And that’s why I want to keep playing Carlson. A couple nice catches tonight. So important to take away hits and limit damage.

Carlson nice catch off Vargas. Now need Goldy, Arenado and Contreras to put some runs on the board. This where our stars need to step up. Right here.

Goldy soft fly to left, Arenado easy comebacker to the pitcher. 2 outs. Contreras with the single to right. All up to DC.

    Rats

We are now 10 games out.

    My, my, my.

Arenado had a pitch to hit on 0-1 and let it go, then throws the bat at the 0-2 and taps back to the pitcher.

He’s really lost at the plate right now. Looks like his confidence is shot.

And that is it – a 1-0 shutout. Cards cementing themselves in the NLC cellar.

While I like the faith Ollie showed Dylan there, the right move was to pinch hit with Burleson. Ugh. Another L.

This is as bad as a Cardinal team has looked in probably 15 years or so.
