Oh No! Pham gets picked off 3rd and that’s little league stuff right there. Want to lose a ballgame? That play was Exhibit A on how to do so.

Cy Urinal on the ropes here in the 6th. Run scores on a ground out and now a sizzling Ozuna base hit to left cuts the Redbird deficit to a run!

Why not ink The Kid ( Gorman ) this afternoon and send him out to 3rd base against the Marlins tonight? This isn’t the 20th century anymore ( Robin Yount and Joe Nuxell excluded ) where these youngsters had to be babied for 4-5 years before even being allowed to sniff a dog at a ML ballpark. Even if only for a game. Why not get an inkling on what we really have in this kid. If at 18 years old he’s chomping at the bit with the prospect of taking the field right off the bat, then you know for sure you have a real blue chipper. If he should start stuttering or becoming silent with the news, then watch out…..we’ve just flushed another 1.6MM down the drain.

Indeed, a select few of these youngsters have “WINNER” tattood all over them, Nyquist…..and not all of them upper echelon draftees. Alex Fagalde is one of these players.

Shoot! Looks like I did indeed shortchange Matt Fiedler out of a dinger. Not to worry though as this fellow may end up whacking so many that it will become very easy to miscount his homers. I don’t know why, but every time I see his name I get visions of Prince Fielder going yard. Maybe not a bad nickname……Prince Fiedler anyone? And speaking of great names….”TheLonelyBull”……classic name….truly priceless!!

Remember this name…..Alexander Glenn Fagalde. The Birds 30th round draft pick from a year ago tossed 7 2/3 innings of 1run 2 hit ball, while striking out 10 and issuing just one free pass. His only significant blemish a towering Billy Cooke 3rd inning solo shot into the left field rafters. Fagalde is a born winner. Never in his life, in any league, has his era elevated itself to 3.00. Watch him rise through the system….and do so swiftly. Oh and by the way, the Chiefs pelted Clinton’s feisty LumberKing squad 7-1, with both Matt Fiedler and J. R. Davis notching their first dingers on the season. Like father like son…..both Peoria and their parent club now find themselves with identical 32-25 records.

Well well well….. The Rock with a sac fly plating Willfredo Tovar ( any relation to Caesar? ) and the Redbirds seize a 6-5 advantage!

Sure was, Cardinals27. Three very nice frames. We had a few stars of the game, but I flip the game ball to Gomber for his sterling efforts in keeping the Bucs at bay during crunch time. Weaver…once again no “W”, but a nice performance all the same. And what a sweet stroke by Wong to end it. I urge everyone to refrain from any negative Wong posts for at least 24 hours. It’s kind of an unwritten baseball law….you hit the walk off dinger and all previous ills are forgotten for at least a day.

Sweet report Cards27! Hope our DSL troops can fare well in their twin bill. I know very little about these guys….I bet I couldn’t rattle off the names of 12 DSL Cardinals. Let’s just get thru the night quickly with our boys from Peoria, Palm Beach, Springfield and Memphis as its not going to be pretty. We’ll get em tomorrow though!

Can’t get down on Norris here as he’s been a Godsend this year. Having a rough weekend vs Pittsburgh though….yielding the 3-run Cervelli bomb the other night and now this Meadows blow to right. Let’s look at the bright side though….another Cardinal will now be poised to perpetuate some walk off heroics.

I stay with Gumby in the 9th. Why get off a winning horse if he’s not gassed?

Ozuna does however singlehandedly retire the side by himself in the 8th….with an assist to Gomber.

Fans going cRaZy on the Ozuna running catch in left, but that’s pretty much a routine grab.

If one unscrambles the letters in this Pirates reliever’s last name ( Glasnow), you come away with “WasLong”….which makes one wonder if he used to be or was destined to be their long man out of the pen?

Gumby continues to mow them down. Two perfecto innings in the book in a 2-1 Cardinals ballgame.

I’m ticked! Where has this Gomber kid been all year???? With his stuff and our relief woos, he should have been up long ago. Wonder how many more nice players we have down there that actually belong up here??

Funny Cardinals27! A Birds dinger plays well on any thread. All is forgiven, Cards27. However, it does look like Saturday’s game thread does need all the posts it can get. Just looked at it after being away for 90 minutes and the place is a morgue.

You know if one unscrambles the letters in the starting Pirates pitcher’s last name ( Kuhl ), you get “Hulk”. We just may see this guy muscle up on one here today unfortunately.

And The Hulk sets down our Birds in order in the bottom of the 1st.

A clean 1st frame from Weaver. Boy, Pham could sure pass as The Wizard’s son…looks wise.

Sweet! If BW was calling the shots, Milwaukee and Chicago would be looking up at our tails right now instead of the other way around.

O’Neill will slice that K rate in half once he gets settled in, GScott. He may have caught a nasty dose of Wongitis after whacking those dingers and now thinks about nothing except hitting the long ball.
