Carlos was a bit rusty to start off…4 straight balls missed the plate. However, he settled down to strike out Dietrich and helped keep the local bat factory in business with the sawed odd double play ball to retire the side.

Hope Ozuna can hit the Marlins line Gyorko has hit the Padres since he left!

Little league stuff there as Carpenter leads off with the single and then gets doubled off first after the sliding catch by Dietrich. Pham softly grounds out and there’s your inning.

The Marlins are threatening in the second…a walk and a single, and no one out.

Martinez can’t find the zone. Three walks in the second and now facing the pitcher.

Ureña made him work by fouling off some pitches but Carlos escapes. Gotta get him settled down, and score him some runs!

Ozuna with the single, advances on the wild pitch and Yadi drives him in with a poke on the elevated slider…1-0 Cards!

CMart is at 39 pitches and 4 walks?!

I was in favor of him getting another rehab outing. Lets hope he settles down.

Ureña had two strikeouts that inning where he didn’t throw a single pitch in the strike zone. Cmart that’s acceptable, but Muñoz just had a bad at bat.

Still, good to get the run and some good swings that inning. Now set em down, Carlos, and let’s get locked in at the plate, Birds!

Martinez with a little league toss to 1st costs him a run.

Pham with another ground out. Has the league caught up to him, is something wrong with his eyes, or just a simple slump? This team badly needs him back. At least this one scored a run, even if it was a double play.

I know there is money tied up with them but at what point do the guys hitting under .200 sit and someone else get a shot?

Where did Guilmet come from? I see the career ERA is 8.22.

Ozuna with a weak throw. Arm not nearly as good right now as it was.

Now I can see why Guilmet’s ERA is crappy. Geesh, thank you front office

Guilmet looking pretty bad in his re-debut. Not sure why Gomber didn’t come in at some point.

Anyway, looking like Ureña may get that first win against the Birds (his team is 0-12 in his starts so far)…very bad timing for the team’s 7 hits so far tonight. I’ve got to be up at 530 (ET) so to bed I go. Hope the Cards can come back.

So, the 5th inning has taught us that Guilmet fits right in with most of the others in our pen . . . and Ozuna is still masquerading as a gold glover. How does a guy go down that much unless there is some significant injury to explain it?

It’s unfortunate for Guilmet but his career ERA is not him now.

His ERA at Memphis was under 1.00 and he was closing and as dominating as any relieve could be at AAA

He earned the shot tonight. And a little unlucky and some butterflies can happen especially having been a long road back to MLB via Asia.

Poetic that one of the best relievers gets sent down and the guy who replaced him is a dumpster fire.

Gomber didn’t come In because we didn’t want him having to hit and we wanted to use him more than one inning.

It was the right move just unfortunate Guilmet couldn’t get it done.

Let’s not forget CMart gave away a run and Ozuna didn’t help Guilmwt with his throw home which would have ended it had he got it on target

Why use Voit there? Is the bench still that short? He goes you a chance at a dinger late if are behind and have guys on.

I’m pretty sure Flaherty and Mayer’s first Mika as Cardinals didn’t go that great either.

But sure label him poor no matter what so it can forward your agenda

    Overreact much?

Voit move looks good right now what the basesloaded and no outs

Then ground out rbi and Ozuna rbi double

    1out men on 2 and 3 down 1

Still rather have saved the big bat until late

Cy Urinal on the ropes here in the 6th. Run scores on a ground out and now a sizzling Ozuna base hit to left cuts the Redbird deficit to a run!

What’s the use of a big batate if your down 3 runs
