Oh No! Pham gets picked off 3rd and that’s little league stuff right there. Want to lose a ballgame? That play was Exhibit A on how to do so.

Well got two back. Pham’s poor base running may have cost us at least a run.

Did I hear them say Carpenter got picked off too?

Wasted a run there with Phams mistake. Should be tie game and a lot of life in the park.

Might want to sit Yadi at this point. Get that wrist looked at instead of maybe making it worse

Pham might need to sit. He was pissed after his groundout and it led to he pickoff at 3rd.

Lots of ballgame left in this one. Only down 1

Then Gomber gives up a HR to lead off the next inning

And my wifey just corrected me….she wants me to wear the blue suit tomorrow and not the black….nope wrong correction….. it is the bottom of the 5th and NOT the 6th. Inning over….we clipped the Marlins for 2 runs, but some of the jubliatory luster has been lost as that inning could have definitely bore more fruit. 5-4 Fish.

Bullpen ERA tonight is a mere 36 right now

CRp got doubled off in the 1st on a poor decision on a tough ball to gauge hit to left center

But he’s got 2 hits and I’ll take that

Shucks! And now the very next batter, Shuck, trots on down to 1st compliments of 4 wayward Gomber offerings.

I could care less what the ERA is as long as we get the W.

Sometimes the pitching bails out the hitting and sometimes the hitting balls out the pitching.

    It’s baseball

colhusker, ref your question: Carp didn’t get picked off. He strayed too far off 1B on a fly out and got doubled off. The catch looked iffy until it was made, but no excuse for Carp being caught like he was — little league-ish.

3 hits, didn’t see it was walking dog. Just heard them mentioned him getting doubled off or picked off.

I’m just as much a part of the Gomber love train as many others but I still don’t like leadoff walks. Or back to back walks

    Ugh

Thanks been at least 3 little league type plays tonight then. As I said, was walking the dog at that point.

My bad. 3 hits. Point still stands.

I’ll take the 1st inn mistake with 3 hit games from my leadoff man

Such a tough call there whether to catch that or not by Carp

I guess you take the out that close to the foul line

If you unscramble the letters in the Marlins starter’s ( Urena ) last name, you get “NearU”….that’s license plate material. The Fish now have runners in the corners with 1 out. Gomber CANNOT allow another Marlin to safely touch home plate. And there it is….Carpenter chases down a Dietrich fly foul ball wayyyy down the left field line with his back to home plate and the Marlin runner at 3rd can play Pin the tail on the donkey on his way to home plate as he easily scores the 7th run on the evening for Miami. If you’re Carpenter do you let that ball land in foul turf without catching it???

Was this Gombers first time being a reliever with rest like a reliever? I know we brought him up but I don’t remember if he was already used to warming up and recovering like a reliever

Tonight he kind of looks like a starter who had to relieve a game he wasn’t supposed to relieve in. Maybe not used to the relieving role just yet

Appreciate it Husker. I will happily be apologetic for mistaking CArp for hitting less hits than I thought. I hope I make that mistake every night

Munoz center stage for Miami as Urena exits. Urena can win this puppy but cannot go to 0-8 on the campaign. Is it just me or do the Cardinals gift wrap a lot of “firsts” to opposing pitchers???

We’ve seen Wong make quite a few outs because he can’t put bat on ball. However, this time he makes an out because he puts bat on ball twice in one swing (bunt). That’s when you know it’s not your year.

Munoz now grabs a seat while Conley grabs a ball. Cardinal runners occupying 1st & 2nd with Bader at the dish with 1 out. Bader strikes out swinging on a 3-2 Conley fast one. Carpenter goes down the same route as Bader and Mr. Conley has earned his paycheck here this evening with his 6th inning performance alone…….7-4 Fish as move along to the 7th.

1st and 2nd and no outs and not even moving them hurts.
